I have a line on a Johnson rifle that a friend is looking to sell. These come up for sale very infrequently so I was wondering what a fair going value is. A few years ago they were north of $2000 but the way milsurp prices have gone recently I have no idea what would be a reasonable price these days. It's a pretty low serial number (around #1400 range). I'll have to have a look at it for condition but I know it functions as he has recently fired it.

A lot depends on condition of course.
Is the rifle still in its original configuration, does the barrel still has the original front sight and bayonet lug,how is the bore.
Many of these rifles were sporterized by a company called Winfield,I have one of those and it still a great rifle, but the value is not near what an original would fetch.Best to show some pictures.

The one thing I have found with the M1941 Johnson is people confuse the Canadian market prices for the US market prices.

Mint condition ones in the US can go for as high as $4000 - $6000USD for the serious US WWII collectors. However some people up here think that because Johnson rifles are “rare” in Canada that their M1941 that looks like it has been buried in the jungles of the South Pacific for the past 75 years is also worth $4000 - $6000.

As with any military surplus rifle you have to decide for yourself: are you buying the rifle or are you buying the aura around the rifle.....

Just my .02 cents

Wolverine Supplies has one on the Used section of their website for $4750 - looks original military configuration with bayonet lug (some were sporterized years ago when brought into Canada).

I have one and they're a neat rifle with a unique action that was a precursor to the AR-15 in many ways.
