Well, I've been wanting an AR for a few years. I'm a big Ruger fan and since they released the AR-556 I've been wanting one. As much as I would love a Daniel defense or Diemaco 15.7".... With two kids and a blue collar job it's just not an option.
I snagged a great deal on the EE on a very gently used Ruger Ar-556.
And.... Am I ever happy.
I took it to the range Wednesday and It fed ae 556, Barnaul 55gr, and Winchester white box all flawlessly with as good accuracy as I could expect with the flip up sights and my 35yr old night shift eyes.
The quality of the gun seems excellent (yeah I know it's not a DD).
But what more can you ask for than being exceptionally happy with your purchase and taking it to the range and shooting it accurately with no failure and just Having FUN!?
The added fact that I'm making a few liberals cry by having fun with my scary AR brings a warm cozy feeling to my heart too.
I plan on adding a magpul ASAP mount and a blue force gear single point bungee sling as soon as I can simply to make transitioning at the range a bit easier.
But, otherwise plan to keep it stock.

And, as an ammunition side note: Barnaul shot the most accurate and ran nicely thru the gun.
Target in the pic is 25yds kneeling.

Nice! Welcome to the club, the more the merrier :). I started off with a bushmaster and almost instantly changed the stock, handguards, grip, put an optic on it and added a vfg. I've since added a DD 10.3" to my collection and am building my first AR. This is such a versatile platform. Easy to use, maintain and upgrade.

Happy shooting!

welcome to brotherhood of AR's .... When I got my RPAL first thing I bought was an AR 15 ( sig m400 enhanced) as my first firearm and never look back.

AR's are like lego you just keep building , enjoy your barbie have fun ...lol :ar15:

Happy shooting !!!

Stop fretting over it not being a DD as you have a fine rifle manufactured by RUGER. Enjoy and shoot shoot shoot.

I always thought they were cool, but never figured they were really my 'thing' so to speak. A fellow at the range let me fire his a few years back and I got the bug. Put an order in for one later that night and have never looked back lol.

I know right. I caved in and bought a CC rifle, first time out was like DAMN this is what I've been missing!

Welcome to the AR Club!
If you're not planning on getting an optic consider replacing the rear BUIS with a carry handle. Gives it a "nicer" look imo.
Nice groups btw…..
