Got my Norinco off a fellow gunnuter today and couldnt be any happier. Showed up a full day early then what was listed on the CanadaPost website ( thats a first ! )

included in the price was three mags ( one pictured ) , scope mount, scope and rifle bag.

First thing she'll get is a trip to cobra imaging for a new skin ( was thinking the CF pattern as seen here ) or I may just repaint the stock myself.

Anyone recommend a good bi-pod for it? What are most of you using in terms of ammo? bullet weight?

Any helpful advice or comments are welcome.
 
Nice fmp, I just got mine today, i bought one off the EE. 10 minutes and I caught my finger in the damn breach, ouch. I need to get mine out to the range and see how she shoots. Have a good one.

They are very enjoyable to shoot. I like the GI glass stock I have on mine. Feels good in the hands. Do yourself a favor and shoot it for a while with the iron sights, just so that you know how well it shoots before scoping it. I know its blasphemy, because the FN FAL rifles are now unobtanium for those who don't already have, but in my opinion, the M14 is a nicer rifle to shoot (having had both).

Already reloading 9mm with a dillon 650, so there's no question that .308 is next. Until then, what are you guys running in terms of factory ammo?

Defintely shooting irons first. Lucky for me the range i belong to up north has targets at 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. I wont lie, I dont even know how to operate or adjust a scope. Im glad it did come with a mount and scope though, eventually that would be my natural progression... then perhaps one day F class, for now.. it'll be a fun plinker !

As bad a$$ as that looks, there's no way Im that inclined to do a camo job like that. I'll probably start with flat black for now, perhaps a few skulls, canadian maple leafs etc. My artistic skills are terrible unlike some of you... hell my one year old could probably paint better then me :)

That took me around 5 hours from stock prep to finish.

The stencils took me over 20 hours to cut........:eek:............i still have them around here somewhere........

Most important thing is surface prep. Make sure all surfaces are clean and oil free.Some of the USGI stocks will leak oil from hairline cracks in the outer layer of glass. It is a bi*ch getting rid of the those oil spots.........Scuff the surface...............use good adhesion promoter and/or primer..............spray light coats and let dry in between coats............let dry at least a day before clearcoat........I used Excel Colorvision Matte Clear Coat.........Available at Rona........

Tremclad has really good textured Matte Black spray paint................

damn !! 20 hours ?!?! The end result defintely speaks for itself, but I've got a kid and no time. :(

But can someone answer my original question, what kinda factory ammo are you guys feeding this pig with?

I enjoy creating things myself and am looking forward to doing my first paint job on a rifle.
I love the look of your camo jobs and was wondering how you make the stencils. I like a good project and don't mind spending the time but not sure where to start.
Just hoping you might have a tip for making my stencils.
