If you have a gong at your local range - ideally about 200 yards out, take carefull aim at it and squeeze. The sound of a 303 bullet hitting steel is absolutely divine, bet you can't do it just once.
Just hold the rear part of the bolt tightly and pull the trigger and allow the firing pin to move forward. I do it very gently because I don't like dry-firing. I dry-fired my 1952 Remington Wingmaster for the first time in 20 years and the firing pin broke in half. I know milsurps are different, but just sayin...
Ahh, yes the spring does get released on storage. I was just playing around with it when that picture was taken. I do dry fire my milsurp's as I believe they were deigned to take warfare abuse, and if they can't take a dry fire now and again, then they should not have been used.
I don't however sit there and dry fire a thousand times a day.
Best part is, being only my second gun show, this is my FIRST gun bought at a show let alone a good deal gun!
@ big_boss - Yes it is a nice bore, that picture was taken before I even cleaned the barrel, and there was quite a bit of gunk in there. Looks even nicer now!
