Hi folks. Just joined after finding you all a little while ago when searching for how long I should expect to wait for a new PAL application to get processed... Anyway, while I continue to wait (app was received in mid-August) I figured this forum would provide an opportunity for me to learn some important and relevant stuff in a short period of time. Thanks in advance for the info I'll take from your combined experiences. Cheers!

I would think your PAL should be in the mail soon. Lately it has been about 8-10 weeks. You check on the RCMP webpage that you applied on (if you did apply via the web-application) the status of the application. Mostly to make sure your verifications have been met. If one person hasnt verified you then the process will be stalled.
Welcome!

A friend of mine applied early September. Just confirmed its in the mail last week so that's about 10 week wait. Said PAL is now sitting in a dark Canada Post depot awaiting a conclusion to the postal strike. Another real-life case study into the jaw-dropping inefficiency of govt. bureaucracy. On the positive, the CFO gave him the PAL number over the phone so he should be able to go shopping anytime now. I recommend calling them periodically to (politely) check up on the processing time.

Thanks for the welcoming messages, and the suggestions on following up. I have checked the website regularly (a couple times a week) and tried phone calls and email. Will be calling back tomorrow. All my references said they had done their part the night I submitted the form so not sure of the hold up, but it is getting annoying when you read about others getting approved the day after their 28 day waiting period was done...
