The wife and I have been going to Vegas at least once/yr for the past 10 years. Back then the Gun Store seemed more personable and they would let you take the handguns in the range by yourself without someone standing behind you. Now it does seem like a money machine, although quite organized, and maybe they have to do it this way due to the popularity. It is a good tourist attraction I have to say. And they do have quite alot of stock in their retail store for those of us who like to stock up on items.
However, and I hesitate writing this because I don't want it to get crowded or the rules to change, I now go to American Shooters Supply - 5 min. from the Wynn. Less "touristy" although occasionally you may run into a busload of asian tourists that stop there and it can be quite annoying (I can say this, I'm asian).
For those who haven't shot full auto before the Gun Store is the place to go as they will walk you through it, however, for those that know how to handle handguns and full auto, I recommend this place. Although they will walk you through it as well if you ask.
I didn't have good experiences at the other ranges including LVGR.
