JR Carbine .45ACP 1911 mag. Your experiences?

Just recently acquired a JR Carbine in .45acp with the 1911 mag. feed and have been dressing it up with the MagPul back-up iron sights, a Vortex Strikefire red/green dot optic, a vertical fore grip/telepod and a 3 point sling for IDPA and possibly 3-Gun.
Have not had the chance to range test the carbine yet and welcome any comments and experiences from the gallery on this.
So what's your experience?
 
Had nothing but good luck with my Jr 9mmm.Its been great.I've wanted to get a .45 conversion for a while no or better yet the whole rifle.I'm interested in hearing how yours works out for you.Make sure you post your results.

Same, jr in 9mm runs flawlessly. I heard that the older jr's had jamming issues. The older ones had fluted barrels and different front ends. You might have to put a little over 100 rounds through it to "break into" it. My jr 9mm had some jamming issues untill i shot about 100 rounds through it.
 
Experiencing some real stovepiping and jamming issues with not 1 but 2 identical 1911 JR's as I bought one for a buddy also.
Have had nothing but very positive responces from Tom @ JR Carbines trying to asses the issues but now am facing having to use the Glock 21 feed system (supplied by JR & temporary I hope) while JR figures out just how to address the issues by first replacing the entire buffer system with an upgrade kit that's now in the mail.
It has been disappointing to say the least as I envisioned the simplicity of a 1911 magazine interchange between pistol and carbine but so far it's been elusive toward that goal.
Will update after the Glock 21 feed system is used but honestly did not want the Glock feed in the first place. I just never gravitated to the Glock.
Obviously.
 
Disappointing news. I'd like to get a 45 JR with 1911 feed as well, for the same reasons. I hope they make it right and get your 1911 mag feed working. Please keep us updated.
 
My friend's JR .45 was a horrible piece of kit. Came in 1911 version, JR replaced the loading block so we could convert to glock (the guy that made them said they won't be doing any more 1911 versions). Still had tons of issues, we were told to cut down the buffer spring, replace the buffer, try different glock mags, polish the feed ramp and in the end? It fired out of battery and sent a piece of brass into his face through the slot for the charging handle. Like in so bad it had to be removed by a doctor. Now I will say JR was really good about the whole thing. They bought the rifle back, sent over some paperwork that made him promise he wouldn't sue them.

My own impressions: The fact that you have to wiggle and fenangle the charging handle to get it to lock back is silly. The fact that the action is open on both sides (no plate for the charging handle slot) is not good. Personally I've heard good things about the 9mm version but I don't think I would ever trust one.
 
Yes Camaroguy, it is very much a disappointing experience and thank you kindly for the well wishes.
I will most emphatically try to keep you updated on the situation and just how Just Right Carbines responds.
I must say though that of all the purchased new things I have accumulated over the years, this ranks as the worst for me personally. But unfortunately we live in a free enterprise, capitalistic culture of doing certain very questionable things as common practice currently.
As in this case with JRC, they have put a product that people were itching and clammering for on the market prematurely knowing well that their product was deficient, unreliable, obviously an example of reverse engineering gone bad and absolutely dangerous to operate.
I struggle to comprehend how companies can get away these kinds of behaviours.
But money talks, and b.s. walks.
My patience is waning to say it nicely.

Pretty much all a ditto here for me except I'm not anywhere near a refund or buy back as I'm still waiting for the upgrade kit, glock mags and magwell.
Tomorrow (Friday) will be 10 business days from the last date of discussions with Tom at JRC. , so "it's just in the mail"
While I'm not trying to defend the hindsight stupidity of this buy, finding such a piece that fires a .45acp pitstol cartridge made a lot of sense for 3 gun or possibly IDPA and should have been a very workable venture for JRC.
I must also commend Tom @ JR Carbines' customer service dept. for his service so far as it has been acceptable considering the circumstances.
I would not want his job for any money.
 
I know that it's super convenient to run 1911 mags in your carbine, when you own a 1911 and already own lots of mags. I own a Sig P226, in .40 S&W and recently purchased a JRC NR, in .40 S&W. Initially, I thought that a JR configured for Sig mags, would be great. Now that I have shot my carbine, with the Glock mags, I wouldn't change a thing. I know that it's not the same as your 1911 situation, I just wanted to share my experience. For competition shooting, I can only surmise that the 1911 design, is superior to Glock's offerings, in .45 ACP. Hopefully it all works out :)
 
I most heartfully thank you all for the kind words of encouragement and what sets me at ease the most is that I was not the only shooter here with the idea of a common cartridge between my side arm and long gun for 3 gun competitions.
Oct.26 was the day I got a US Postal Service confirmation of a package being picked up @ JR Carbines in Canadaigua, N.Y. and addressed to me.
So as it's been said, again, the upgrade kit is in the mail.
I'll keep the gallery informed and updated.

Heard good things about them. My buddy is about to get one in 9mm.

Have since been to the range with the newly installed Glock magwell and Glock 10 round mags with a complete turn around for reliable performance. Out of 50 rounds fired consisting of a mix a various brand FMJ factory loads and handloaded truncated cone 200 grain IDPA major loads, I had but 1 hiccup, a stovepipe that occurred in the less fired JR of the two identical and original 1911 fed versions I bought. It was I must say a sigh of relief when the 2 JR's actually fed the rounds like they are supposed to. But as the one was practically unfired I will chalk the 1 failure to feed on the carbine needing a specific break in period and hence all the advice from other JR owners about keeping them well oiled and clean.
The only downside is that had I wanted the Glock fed system, I'd have bought that in the first place rather than the 1911 system I really wanted to compliment a PCC (pistol caliber carbine) with a 1911 pistol thereby simplifying the cartridge and magazine commonalilty.
But this will not abate my insistence on pushing JR Carbines to rectify their engineering issues with the 1911 feed system.
I will again try to keep the gallery informed of my progress.
 
I bought a 45ACP with the 1911 magazine as I have a half a dozen 1911 mags and figured it would be phenomenal to have a rifle shooting the same mags as my pistol. I must say it was truely disappointing. When I tested it out it was jamming every second or third round. It would drive the round into the top of the chamber pushing the bullet further into the casing causing the casing to expand in the chamber and making it extremely difficult to extract the round. I called JR Carbine and Tom sent me out a glock magwell and a glock 45 mag. It was a definate improvement, however if I held the trigger back even for a split second too long the rifle would not be cocked for the next round. This does not occur in any of my other ARs or pistols I own. This means if my trigger finger is not as fast as the mechanism my rifle jams. Not reliable in my books. Now i'll have to take it to a gunsmith to fix the trigger issue before I sell it as I don't feel like getting more glock mags. Oh yeah and I haven't yet figured out how to get the 10th round in the glock 45 mag that apparently holds 10. The really disappointing part is that I have bought Norinco rifles and pistols and they go bang every time for half the price. When I try to buy an "American Made" rifle it is full of problems when used with a magazine that has had a proven design for over 100 years. I have heard the 9mm jr carbines are much better however for the same money, I think i'll be going with a CX4.
