JR Carbine barrel shroud....finally

Finally spoke with Val, and he says the shroud/clamp system that Shooter has won't work with the pyramid barrel. :(

However, he's going to build one for me that's 16.5" long that will reach back and clamp to the round part of the barrel under the handguard. :)

I'm not sure what this will look like though, or how much it might add to the muzzle heavy feel of the carbine, but I'll give it a try anyways and will report back as soon as it's in my grubby little paws.

please let me see some pics.. would like to know the price too as it I have the pyramid barrel as well..

Received an aluminum tube in the mail today, and thought I'd slide it onto my JRC to see what it might look like...

And surprisingly enough, it looks a lot like Shooter's barrel shroud. :)

The only difference is under the handguard, where mine is quite a bit longer...

Total weight is 178 grams, and it's essentially unnoticeable when holding the carbine. Very nice fit and finish, and well worth the $70USD.

Sorry for the iPhone pics.

re: 9mm or 40 s&w

how long is your front hand gaurd in inches. do you think your measurments of .750 would be the same for the .40 barrel. mine is on order and i will not get it until friday. sorry for the newbie questions. thanks again

You guys have started it rolling now, and I would like to thank you. I ordered a shroud for my 9mill JR on Friday.
He asked me what length I wanted, and the best answer I could come up with was the 16.5.
Can you guys tell me if that is what I need to work with the new gen round barrel ????? I have time to phone Monday and change the order if I need to.
I am also going to change my butt stock to a skeleton style.
When I am done it should look like my Kriss's evil twin.

slowpoke, i'm sure if you have 16.5 inches of barrel it will work just fine. it probably doesn't need to be that long. it just needs to go past your hand guard. i think i will order mine to fit right back to the handgaurd threads. i don't have mine yet to measure or i would. did anyone ask if he can make the shroud from stainless or some sort of nickel finish?? might look sweet as well.

The other choice was 11.5" or something like that.
I am going to phone first thing on Monday and double check.
I generally make the wrong guess first time around.
It sounds like they made the 16.5" for the 1st gen pyramid barrels??

See above. Mine is 11.5 inches. No idea if the 9mm and the .40 are the same diameter. Use calipers to measure yours.

LOL , I see the light now , I'm certain that the 11" one is what I should have ordered ,
I do not think I am to late to change the order.
Thanks for the info.

I just phoned them and they ,picked up the phone on a Sunday.Changed my order to the 11.5 for the 9 mil.
I shall try and RTFT's a little better next time , All the info was here .

they were great.. mine has the triangular barrel so they made mine a little longer so the attachment screw would catch where the barrel turned round again.. Had it on my door in 3 weeks (over christmas), nothing owing at the door..

Really like the look of these rifles but have they cured the initial problems they had with the rifles? Are you guys still experiencing FTF's or FTE's?

I guess you can really hit and miss with these, with first one I had couple FTF's and FTE's problems but only with steel unjacketed ammo. Had to sell it to finance other purchase , then recently I got new one again because its a fun and very accurate little rifle, from look of it there are some changes to the bolt, buffer, buffer spring, magwell and barrel.
Runs great so far.
