I have a JR Carbine in 40 S&W serial # JR0180xx, When a round is fired and the bolt picks up a fresh round from the magazine it leave a very rough, deep gouge in the brass about 1/8 to 1/4" from the case mouth, the gouge is shaped like this ) . It the doesn't seem to do it as bad or at all if the bolt is release by hand only after firing a round, I think it's getting caught up on the steel plate in front of the feed ramp.

Has anybody had to deal with this issue, otherwise I love the rifle.

hmm, never had that type of issue with mine. Mine was a bit of a finiky whore untill I was sent the updated buffer. Do you have any photo's of the damage. Some JRC's have the odd gremlen to work out but they are a great lill'carbine. I had some issuse within the first 100 rounds but since then its been runing like a #### star.....keep her a lill wet and she will just keep hammering away.

maybe you could try cycling a mag through it by hand and see how the round travels...? the feed ramp that is bolted to the front of the mag well could be causing this problem.

Sounds like a mag issue.

The spring is not getting the next round up fast enough for the bolt to catch, and it's gouging the case on the way by.

If possible, disassemble, clean and lube the mag. Also check for any burrs or imperfections that might be hindering the followers movement.

Test against other mags if you have them.

I thought about a mag issue but if anything it's too much spring tension. Hard to get all the rounds in it. It feeds flawlessly but 80% of my brass is garbage. I'll post a pic of the cases when I get home.

Tried it again today and it's definitely gouging it on feeding. Only lost 50% of my cases this time. Also it will not eject a loaded case. I thought it was ammo specific so didn't mention it but tried 4 brands today and all did the same the base of the case hits against the ejector before the bullet tip can clear the chamber. All ammo is within spec
