Hi everyone,
Where can I find a cheap synthetic free float handguard. I'm thinking i want one of the ones with no rails. Just a plain black tube would be perfect. Its for a JR carbine. I like the rifle but can't dig the quad rail. Its too short, heavy and feels awkward for me and is just unnecessary. (No laser beams or flashlights for me! Haha!) a top rail would be ok, but in that case i might just go aluminum (id only use a top rail to install a backup front sight.)
Or...
Alternatively, could I convert the JR from a free float handguard to a delta ring setup?# if so how would i retain the front of the handguard (I'm thinking swapping for a delta ring, which i think is possible, and adding a front sight that clamps to the barrel and some kind of retainer? Would that work?
I will add that I know next to nothing about AR15s. This may sound like a silly, pointless idea so if it is let me know and I will give it up, haha. It would be nice to ditch the quad rail and just have a smooth handguard, and the classic AR look wouldn't hurt either.
Thanks in advance for your input.
