JR Carbine - Polish bolt?

Sticky bolt issues? I am experiencing this. Thought it would smooth out after 500 ish rounds but no dice. Still eats everything I feed it though.

I am not having any problems at all, bolt was a bit sticky at first, not so much anymore. I have heard others suggest that the SU16 can benefit from the bolt being polished, just wondering if that is true for the JR.

What do you qualify as a bit sticky? I find mine to be sticky as a fly on a pile of fresh horse dung. Took 3 guys to unstick it at the range. Then I oiled it like I've never oiled a rifle before and it started acting normal again, till it got stuck again.

I'm going to take it out shooting again this week, if it sticks again I'm going to have to return to Wanstalls and ask them what the fack to do with this rifle.

Sounds like either a tolerance stack issue, or something is burred inside. I would disassemble it and check where it's wearing as it may damage something.

Remember, these are guns, not F414 parts, and having manufactured parts for both, I would never hold high expectations for tolerancing and finishing on gun internals. So check it out yourself.

Problem is that it's only sticky when firing, and of course it only sticks after the last round fired out of a 10 round mag. When I'm racking the bolt myself, it racks fine.

Maybe heat is making the bolt expand beyond its free tolerance limits so then it sticks? It is a carbine, so lots of rounds, lots of heat in that receiver.

By the way, the f414 is one hell of an engine! I'd be proud to have worked on something like that!

That's possible. Maybe another fellow owner on here can throw a vernier on theirs for comparison? Also, it's the bolt that hangs back correct? So def not a mag issue correct?

Yep bolt hangs back and will not go into battery without tremendous force after firing a 10 round magazine to empty. I remove the empty magazine, then try to rock the bolt back into locked into battery mode to insert a new magazine, but it's stuck. I have to ask the guys in the stalls next to me to come help me rock that bolt back. (1 guy to hold the front of the rifle pointed down range, 1 guy to hold the back of the rifle, while I try to rock the bolt open, yes it's that stuck!)

Wow. Sounds like a tollerance issue for sure, especially if its in the 10th round only on a clean gun. When you disassemble it, do you see anything wearing more than others? I believe the way this gun operates, the bolt can rotate a little as the cocking handle wears down. Is it galling around the charging handle? I'd start looking to see what's causing it to hang, and/or contacting a distributor for some replacement parts.

Well I'm not very good with gunsmithing, I'll bring it to Wanstalls (where I bought it) this week and have them look at it, facking thing will probably cost me another 300$ to get fixed without guarantee it's going to work, cause they're like that at Wanstalls. I really can't stand new guns not working, it's new!

Serial Numbers JR015000 through JR016391 Only

mine should be here next week. we'll see how this does

Yah I did my research on that problem as well before buying. Nope my serial number is way way above that, in the 50000 range, so I thought it wouldn't have any issues, I thought wrong. Even on the internet people stated having issues with their early production 9mm, but the newer gen 2 had no problems at all, well Jesus I guess I'm just the odd one out there again!

Good luck with your rifle, I'm very disappointed in min. Frankly now I'm wondering if I should spend more money on getting it fixed (as there is no guarantee it's even going to get fixed after spending the money) or just counting the 900$ as a loss and move on to something else.

Nope I can't see any galling, warping, wear or anything weird between those 2 sections of the bolt around the charging handle.

Contact JRC, as I have heard they are excellent about fixing any issues. I haven't had any problems myself though, so I can't give first hand experience about it. You may also want to consider ruining it with very little oil. They foul up very quickly due to the blowback operation.

I wouldn't hesitate to contact them. They were awesome to deal with when mine wasn't working properly. 1 or 2 emails and a quick phone call and the proper parts were on the way. That was over a year ago and I haven't had a problem since.

I have about 3-4000 rounds in mine and haven't cleaned it for the last 700 rounds ( we all know how dirty 9mm is) and its not sticky at all. And I didn't lube it the last time I cleaned it either.
