JR Carbine thoughts?

Love my .40, unbelievably accurate for a pistol cartridge at 100 yds+.
The more I shoot it, the more I love it. Yes, it's a pain to clean, but that's partly why it's in the price range.

I have a JRC in .40 and I used to like it. The fact that it's NR was a big plus.

It had it's pluses:
takes glock mags
shoots OK
nice rail for optics
takes most AR furniture
Reasonable price

It also had a few negatives:
light strikes - replaced firing pin and spring N/C from JRC
takedown takes a little more time
bullet drop of a .40 at 100 yds is pretty substantial
no last round hold open (this was a big one for me)
charging handle keeps coming lose (and I really don't want to loctite it cuz you need to be able to get it out to clean)
after a while the charging handle seems to wear a fair bit, I imaging it will need replacement eventually as it takes a fair bit of wear in the grove

Since I bought my first AR a few years ago (a DPMS that cost less money), my JRC has basically been sitting in the cabinet and not seen much action. I think the only reason I keep it is the NR status - who knows - maybe one day I'll decide to go close quarter deer hunting... ;)

The JR Carbine, KelTec Sub2000, TNW Aero, Thureon and even Kriss Vector have lots of fans and detractors on the forums, you'll have fun with your research! :)

For that high a budget, you might want to look very closely at the Beretta Cx4, also: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1040413-The-Beretta-CX4-Thread?highlight=Beretta

I owned the 9mm JR and it had a few extraction issues. I then bought the Beretta CX4 and LOVED it !! Do your self a favour and at least look at one and read all the POSITIVE reviews. You wont be sorry. It ran 100% ALL the Time. !!

its a piece of sh!t
any firearm that doesnt work 100% when you open it brand new out of the box is sh!t, i say that no matter what the price, brand or angel dust the firearm is.

yes I owned one. yes it was the 9mm version. No it didnt facking work!

Don't listen to this. He probably bought the gen 1 version which did have jamming problems. If you buy one new, you will have zero issues because in like 2012 they fixed the issue and kind of changed the look (fore end). I love mine and it eats any ammo. Very reliable and accurate. Here is my review:

I bought one in 9mm about a month ago. I have put about 500rds through it without a failure. Just received the takedown tube from JR, now it fits in a backpack.

So from zero to fully equipped as shown how much does it hurt the bank book?

Well 899.99 for the rifle+ tax so $1016
$299.99 for the Bushnell AR 1-4 plc throw down came with Millet tactical rings+ tax=$339
=$1355
I also bought two glock 10/33 OEM mags so I guess you could add $120 for those and $40 for the 10/33 KCI

Honestly man, you can't go wrong. If you reload it is fairly cheap to shoot and a whole of a lot more fun then a .22.

I do reload, and a buddy has one that Ive used many times. They are a fun gun to shoot for sure. That an a CX4 are my favorites to play with.
