See what you think,
My .40 cal JR with YHM 12.5 inch vs my old 9 inch.
I bought a 12.5 to see the diff. I've got long arms and the 12.5 gives me room to stretch out.
The 12.5 doesn't have any covers in these pics.
YHM is a great straight/no mod forend for the JR.

heck, that does look great! I never knew the JR could look that nice. I know, newbie :D

I like the shorter one personally but the other is nice too, and if it fits you better thats great

Very nice. I like the 12.5 inch fore end. Where did you get your YHM from? I'm having a really hard time finding any in Canada, and I'd rather not order from the US.

This forend is straight off of Ebay. From the US to S.Ontario about 2 weeks. No customs problems.
The same seller has quite a few still avail.
Thanks for positive commets people!!

Do you think you can pm me the sellers name? I can't find it on ebay. I hope he isn't sold out already :( I've been searching for that YHM fore end for a long time.

I had E&L make me a 16.5 shroud for my .45 JRC .. Luck of the draw gave me a new version factory forend .. The one with round holes all the way back as opposed to the signature three slots in the front .. Did not want the barrel to reduce just behind the forend as it would look like it got smaller in size, like picture #2 .. Could have interfered with cooling though .. but that YHM forend catches the eye , not the reduction in barrel size ..

Hey guys, I just got my YHM foreend, but I'm having great difficulty removing the original from the JR Carbine. The disassembly video show it being very easy, but I notice that there is a cut in the video, so they aren't showing something. I even have the tool that I bought from JR Carbine and I can't get the damn nut to rotate. Am I missing something? It won't even budge :(

Err.. do you mean the slip ring? I was able to remove the original fore end and slip ring, but I had to use a pipe wrench to do it. The barrel nut with the four holes in it at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o clock is still stuck on very tightly and won't budge. I have the tool from that I bought from EMF for the JR. It has something for removing the barrel nut with pins at 3, 6, and 9 o clock, but I can't budge it. I'm going to go pick up some penetrating oil in a bit. I just hope they didn't loctite it in place. The forearm and slip ring didn't have any though, so I'm hoping the barrel nut won't. They must have overtorqued it quite a bit.

yes i ment the fore stock/hand guard, the barrel nut is VERY tight, i tried knocking mine loose and it just damaged the nut. i dont have the tool, was gonna buy or build one, are you hammering on the tool? sometimes the shock helps, if they locktited it it may need heat to breakdown the locktite, you wouldnt think they would have it soooo tight , its suposed to be multi caliber...

Oh ok. Thanks. Yeah, I have the tool and I'm hammering on it, but the barrel nut just won't budge. The ring is off though. I'm going to pick up a nice sturdy vise and penetrating oil from Canadian Tire tomorrow.

A vice is a huge help, I've ended up buying 3 different wrenches for this gun, an AR wrench, Jr's wrench and YHM wrench. Between the 3 of them I've got one decent tool.
It should not have loctite on it, even then if it was blue loctite it should not be as hard to remove as you are describing.
Once you get it in a vice you should be alright.
