JR Carbine

It's really too bad there aren't solidly reliable pistol caliber carbines. They all seem to have at least 1 major flaw.
There are reliable pistols. There are reliable rifles. But no perfect PCCs... and at the price they're commanding it's ridiculous.
What is the flaw with the Beretta Storm? It is the most rock solid of the bunch available to us. I personally have never seen one #### up.

The backup sights on the storm is a big turn off for me. Also having a plastic hammer doesn't help either.

For the OP, you might wanna look into Thueron Defense. It is a way better PCC than JR but it will cost a bit more.

I have a JRC in 40SW. It's really a 50 to maybe 100 yd gun at best. From 50 to 100 the bullet drop is pretty large, but it will hit the target. Beyond 100, never tried, but I'd expect I'd have to aim into space to offset the bullet drop.

Pros: Non restricted, cheap ammo (I reload 40SW), glock mags, 10 rds at a time, easy access to furniture and add ons, looks kewl

Cons: don't like the manual bolt hold open on last round, gotta run it wet, bolt release is a little less elegant than an AR, take down takes a few seconds longer, not that accurate at 100 yds.

There were some early issues (search and you'll find but it seems they've got most of that sorted and they work pretty good now.

If you like it, get one.

Ive been thinking about buying a JR Carbine in 9mm for a nice little target gun... I dont want to bother with getting my rpal but wanted something in that style..

Any suggestions on upgrades or add ons to it?

Just a set of sights and/or a scope/red dot and lots of ammo. is all you'll need to get out and have some fun. I'd definitely go with the 9mm version and Glock mag.'s because they have significantly less reliability issues and are much cheaper on ammo. too.
I only had one issue with mine (due to the particular brand/model of ammunition used that being Winchester 147Gr. if IRC due to the round having a very tight fitting shoulder where the bullet steps up to the case which caused the round to jam) and the JR company in New York sent out what I needed no charge quickly and correctly with a professional attitude. I did however have great success with Sellier & Bellott 115Gr, FMJ putting 2,000Rds. through the rifle w/o any FTF/FTE or any issues at all and accuracy was good at 100Yds. where you could riddle a target the size of a man's head no worries once Zeroed-In.
I had the barrel threaded and an A2 birdcage style flash hider mounted for the cool factor, a Harris bi-pod (which I felt was to much weight spoiling the light feel of the rifle) and 3x9 Bushnell or a Red dot depending on the circumstances otherwise everything else is just a perusal preference.
The JR carbine in 9mm is a light/nimble, reliable and accurate pistol calibre carbine that shoot really affordable quality ammo., so what's not to like...

Also to the OP.

If you like the JR...have a look at Thureon Defense as well.

I've tried both and they were neck and neck. The tie breaker was taketown..........don't like tools for any firearm takedown.

For me, I enjoy shooting PCC more than my AR's and sporting rifles.

My setup.....Magpul OD Green : MIAD grip, Stock , rail covers......MBUS Pro's and the Trijicon RMR.

What are you using for ammo?? :)

Whats the range of a Jr Carbine in 9 MM?

I watched a special report done by a non-firearms related , independant news source testing of just how far the 9MM cartidge reaches when fired from a pistol having a 5" barrel. This was a report done to give clarity of just how far pistol bullets actually travel in the wake of Devil's Night & Halloween night in Detroit where gang members were shooting each other and simply plinking into the thin air replacing firecrackers with bullets. A number of innocents' were wounded with one youth actually killed from a stray bullet coming from over a block away.
The tests revealed the 9MM round to be lethally effective out to 200 yards unbelievably as even at those lower velocities, the round still gave ample penetration into pig's carcasses. Were the hit to traumatise any of the vital organs, incapacitation from blood loss would be inevitable even though death may not be instant. A pig having a similar mass in the torso area to that of a human is about as close as possible to replicating how an actual bullet will perform out of any cartridge.
A pistol caliber carbine having a much longer sight radius or optic will give the shooter the benefit of greater accuracy and some velocity gain from an 18.6" barrel all the while having virtually no recoil and the bonus, you can now have both your sidearm and carbine in the same chambering, using the same mags. Think IDPA and 3-Gun here.
And non-restricted!
What's not to like about all that?

I threw a troy alpha rail on mine 11inch, lighter then the 6 inch steel, magpul grip and stock on the civ tube. Also a vortex reddot and a barrel shroud from hical. Great plinker, haven't taken it to a outdoor range yet but its super comfortable with these upgrades. Also need to see how my magpul glock mags from Irunguns work out in it.

OP! Buy the jrcarbine, you won't regret it. Mine shoots flawlessly. It is incredibly accurate for 9mm, i was able to his a 2 1/2" circle at 100 yards every time with cheap ammo. the one thing is that you have to break into the rifle. At first i had a couple jams, but after 100 rounds, it runs flawlessly.
