I love my 9mm JR, its a dream to shoot now. I bought it used and after I took it home I saw the bolt wasn't closing properly. It would get very tight and start to rotate a little. Once I took it apart I found the problem. The keyway was flush causing the barrel to sit misaligned. The fix didn't cost anything and luckily there wasn't too much damage from shell casings hitting on the way out.

It is a great platform. Over heard a gunshop salesman telling a customer telling a potential buyer that it is a 9mm gun only. Also being the only Caliber they stock....
But my .40 cal has over 2000 rounds downrange though it and once I got past shooting .40 winchester brand through it, any misfeeds were ZERO.
Wolf and blazer it chews up all day. No problems.
NR and out on the farm. great fun.
Also some great looking and fun projects coming out of this platform. Always fun to build and invest in these newer platforms.
Good times! Great to see these types of firearms outside of ranges being built up and enjoyed.

At shot show 2015 they unveiled a take-down model with all new cosmetic feature and camo..

Wonder if the canadian market will see them?

Anyone knows anything about it?
 
I bought my take down tube to convert my JRC a few months ago...I like being able to quickly break it down into two pieces and use a compact 25" discreet case to pack it around.

There is some reason to believe that the 9mm version may be more reliable than the .45, but that's hearsay.

Funny about your friends Beretta Storm CX-4, I have one and in many thousands of reloaded 9 MM's never had a single jam or stove pipe ever. Must have been crap ammo he was using.
 
After shooting my 40SW version for a while now, I find the only real disadvantage is there being no last round hold open. I get the design is different and BR, but hold open would be really good to have.
 
I can easily put up with the lack of the last shot bolt hold open feature. The only thing that really bugs me is having to remove the buffer tube to field strip it for cleaning.

A minor annoyance for lefties is the mag release button.
 
Hello I am new to ths forum and to guns in general. I grew up on a farm with guns but just shot gophers mainly. Now I have a couple guns. I bought a JR Carbine in .40 s&w as it matches another gun I have and I was happy to get a gun like this that is (once converted) left handed.
In the first 200 rounds fired, it has jammed 18 of them. Pretty much at one per magazine. I bought a spare Glock magazine and it happens to both. I tried 4 different brands of bullets from reloads to an expensive itallion brand. It happened with all of them. I tried putting more oil on the bolt but no change. I am waiting to talk to JR but have been searching all day for a solution with no answer. Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to fix it. I just bought this gun new on December 2015 so it should have all the upgrades. I really want this gun to work good as I like it but it is getting expensive and frustrating to throw 10% of my ammo in the garbage. Any help is appreciated.

I had some trouble with the 9mm jamming on a couple of rounds.
I have three mags, one original and two glock.

They are different, the JRC mag follower has a step on it.
Turns out that is the one that jams. The glocks are flat, and do not, so far.

I find that my .40 JRC gets dirty very quickly and when clean and well oiled, mine runs perfect. Once it gets dirty, reliability flies out the window. I've had good luck with a light grease on the bolt and everything it touches, including the receiver walls. I tried a cheapo mag and it sucked totally.

To be honest, if you want 100% reliability, pay a little more and get a TD or Beretta carbine. Just my 2c. Still love my JR though... it's a pretty cool little machine. I believe reloads are discouraged along with any alum/steel cased ammo. Factory brass only.

Thank you for the responses. The nice thing about the JR is that I am left handed so it is nice that way. In reading the other thread it looks like there may be a fix. It looks like it may be a buffer issue.
If it gets dirty enough after 30 rounds to cause jamming, I want my money back. I really hope it can be fixed though.
 
I talked to JR today. They tell me that even though I just bought it, it was built in 2014 so it probably has the lighter buffer in it and needs the heavier one. He was really good to deal with. I have to take it apart and measure it tonight to confirm but I will post back with my results. I hope he is right and I can get this thing running right :)
 
So an update on my issue. I called JR and they were great on the phone. They sent me their newest heaviest buffer. It is drilled out and filled with lead. They also sent me a new feed ramp that has less angle and a spare barrel ring as I mentioned to him I scratched mine up. I put about 80 rounds through it last night and there wasn't anymore bullets turned sideways during the feeding process. The only problem now is that nearly every last casing in the magazine gets stuck coming out. I tried only loading 9 rounds in the magazines but it made no difference. I will call them today to see what they suggest for that. At least it is getting better.....
