JR Cox comments on the Swiss Arms situation

The best, most efficient way to resolve this is vote with your wallet..
Yes it is. If we forget what JR has done and patronise his business, he wins by getting what he wanted anyway, more money. JR missed the most important lesson of the army; DON'T BLADE YOUR BUDDIES.

IIRC the original Swiss guns (the blue stars etc.) were all brought in on very shaky grounds. So this reclassification is no surprise to me. Too bad JR is a busy-body and initiated the avalanche himself.

Engaging the RCMP to try and manipulate them into harming a competitor and former business partner is like this:

Two kid brothers fight over a toy gun that their father grudgingly said they could have. The one brother goes running to Daddy to rat out that the other brother isn't playing with the toy gun right. The father gets angry and takes the toy away from both kids and tells all the other parents to take the same toy away from their kids too, which the other parents do. Now no kids have that toy gun and no one is happy.

Moral of the story: If you use the police to fight a personal battle you likely will end up losing for more than yourself. Deal with your gripes yourself and if you can't, then STFU and move on.

If all you guys bashing JR would put your efforts into doing something like call your Mp's. And maybe you have . All the he said she said wont fix this. The only problem is the firearms law of this great country call Canada . If the law wasn't f-up we would not be in this situation. The RCMP have to much power. Do something about that . If the Shooting edge closed it's doors you would still have this problem. All semi autos are on the chopping block. It's old news, move on and direct your whining to the powers in Ottawa.

This story has been beaten to death. No further discussion or analogy would give it any further light to it. What really matters now is the fight we have on all firearms owners hands. We need to continue the push towards repeal of the firearms act.

Let's spend all those energy on something positive for the community.

care to answer any of my questions in this thread I have posted? As someone who purchased what I was told was your personal rifle (swiss arms sniper) through the royal sportsman in Burnaby BC many years ago I expect much more information from you than the silence you continue to have on this matter when questions are asked in your own section on this forum.

Yes an answer to this ...

I'm very tempted to fly to Calgary and kick him in his iron clad balls for throwing Canadian firearm owners under the bus. He admitted he fawked everyone over then states its not like it wouldn't have come to light later. He deserves everything he gets and then some. He sold out his customers for a buck.

He presented the challenge and I am more than happy to oblige

A new all time low for gun owners. If you are as tough in real life as you are behind a computer, why don't you post your real name? Im sure you will not because statements like that are very cowardly. At least JR would go the length to say he is sorry and even offer his cell phone number. Your additude is what is wrong with the firearms community. You can talk tough while you hide, but please do it some ware else. Cool headed gun owners do not need to be brought down with you by your immaturity.

Flying to Calgary to kick his ass . Thats got the RCMP laughing there ass of at idiots like him. Divide and Conquer . Now if you put that money and effort towards a solution we might get some
where with changing the firearms act. If. gun owners act like a bunch of children your going to get treated like children.

I new all time low for gun owners is what JR has done… I would guess that there are many many many thousands of people who have lost many hundreds of thousands of dollars, across Canada who would like to kick someone in the backside… That's completely understandable. And please don't make it a choice, I'm sure and certain that everyone is doing what we can to send letters and make our voice heard… THIS has nothing to do with joining a lovefest for JR !!!!

Lets be clear. No one has lost any money yet. Or guns. And I'm confident they won't as long as we keep the pressure up.

A kid makes mistake, smashes dads car (I did that once), breaks an heirloom (did that too), flunks a class, etc, it does no good to berate him incessantly for weeks on end. Do you think you are making him feel any worse every day by posting in this thread?

I'm pretty sure JR has learned all he is going to from this, and you can probably just keep your focus on letter writing. TSE's business is not going to suffer as much as you would like anyways, as majority of people I imagine hit the public ranges are not on CGN and don't read your rants anyways.

There is a difference between an honest mistake and malicious intent. JR was trying to screw his competition. A good businessman doesn't have to worry about competition because he's over worked with good customers.

You're confused… You speak of accidents and laziness that cause mistakes, this was not a mistake, this was not an accident, this was malicious and premeditated… Completely different, although I'm not really ranting at all, and I couldn't care less who reads this or who doesn't.
One thing we do agree on is that we ALL must do everything IN OUR POWER at this time to stop the craziness of the laws… I think we all agree on that!

Having frequented both stores I agree with this post. JR couldn't handle having a better store open up in town, let alone one run by his ex-partner. We are all paying for it now.

You guys keep trying to turn this into "this store vs that store". So current issues aside for a minute----

There are 2 sides to this coin, as with everything in life. Every time I've been into the Calgary Shooting Center I get met with condescending, arrogant, "pfft" this and "nose-up-in-the-air-that", not to mention he was a jackass to me at the Edge on several occasions before he left. Like my money wasn't good enough, or when I got "Pretty Woman-ed" out of TCSC for some reason, maybe my cargo shorts made them think I was a homeless oilfield geologist, no idea....but that Christensen 1911 was "very expensive, and only really suited for people with disposable cash" (direct quote from the idiot salesman, not James, the other older guy with an attitude). So I bought a another Nighthawk. I know quite a few people who have had the same experience as me. I also know some that like it there. Either way, there are always two sides, and James has done nothing to earn my money either.

So even though I've had issues at TSE, I've never been treated like a 5 year old at any other retailer aside from Blackfoot Motorsports. Ever.

So I guess the "CGN Elites" here can continue to go and patronize TCSC. I don't, and won't. But my experience is obviously far different from supporters. That's fine.

I think this thread can die anytime now...lol.....its headed for a pissing match over who buys what at what store, next thing you know it will spin into an "Urban Calgary Bear defense thread about where you would buy your shotgun, and what store would you hide in during the Zombie invasion"

IBTL

This is not a pissing match… it's a discussion. I'm sure JR new what the thread would turn into when he posted this video… It should not be locked and should be open for everyone to see and then draw their own conclusions. I find it interesting to read that you say 'this would've happened anyways-it was inevitable'… I disagree. If it was inevitable, why would JR post this video?

In my opinion, a version of the Sig rifle that was "different" would have eventually been flagged anyway, maybe later than sooner, but the RCMP has flagged arms for less of a reason. That's my opinion, not fact, and I believe I am still allowed that. As for why he posted the video? An apology. Simple.

Would you rather have had him hide in the shadows and not take responsibility for his actions? Although it doesn't make the issue go away or solve anything, I like that he had the balls to admit his tact was off base. And if you are perfect and never make mistakes, good on you. You are the next rising star of the world.

You are from Ontario though, so I suppose you are perfect and have never done anything you regret. Even if you did, you likely blamed a neighbor or friend anyways to shed the guilt.
