JTF2 Uses Magpul

A belay loop on the harness would speed up the disconnect and get a better attachment for the rope bag too. Fast roping would have been better as they dont look loaded for weight with backpacks/gear?

Unlike the rest of DND, JTF2 falls under CANSOFCOM which has it's own "vote" of money under the DND budget and falls outside the normal Canadian Forces Supply System (CFSS). Their operators can get pretty much anything they want, so long as they use the basic C7 lower receiver for their 5.56 service rifles.

Very High-speed, Lo-drag. Other units are green with envy.

...Also the forward mounted eotech with a carry handle is a different look. I could totally see it though when a carry handle gets used for actual carrying.
That is were it is supposed to be. To ensure proper Co-Witness sight picture.
Although the do look like they need some pratice on there sea legs.

Never jumped out of a helicopter (actually never been in a helicopter at all) but I have done a bit of climbing and rope work. I could definitely get out of a rappel faster than that but:

One thing I remember about it...I didn't have a ton of mags and #### it the way when trying to unhook, nor did I have a gun that I had to worry about where I was pointing it. Nor was the ground moving at all, nor the point the rope was fixed to. Nor was I faced with decisions like "if I do this wrong will I get shot, or shoot someone else?"

So overall I don't feel like my experience of rappelling compares very well to what they're doing.

I gotta agree with some people. These guys clearly need some work on there rappelling, it's obvious they have had some instruction and SOME practice, but not much and by the looks of there speed not enough. I would be surprised if they had performed the actual act of rappelling out of a helicopter more than 10 times, and they certainly don't appear to be practicing as regularly as they need to remain confident in there ability. As stated earlier, when rappelling out of a helicopter there is a moment of commitment where if you hesitate you swing back in and break your jaw/face on the strut.

In the field I work in, I repel quite regularly, sometimes daily for weeks at a time. I have been doing this for close to 8 years, mind you off of buildings and stationary objects, not a moving helicopter. In no way do I think I could just jump out of a helicopter and do what these guys are doing and look as professional as they do. However, there repelling skill and knowledge of rope, and harness is clearly lacking from what I would think "special forces" would be trained in and capable of.

I think they look like they know what there doing, but my guess is they just don't get much opportunity to practice it. It's a shame, because with practice they look like they could be elite. I would expect more from Canada's best.

I guess in theory if they were planning a specific mission like this they would practice so much they could do it in their sleep. But they are far from proficient at it in that video.
