Finally, after years of procrastination, I walked into SFRC with a newly minted RPAL and purchased my first pistol! I told myself I was holding off as I spent enough on long guns, but with political climates the way they are, I couldn't put it off any longer.

When the transfer goes through, I will be picking my very own Smith & Wesson M&P 9 2.0 range kit. Felt good in the hand and liked the controls and sights.

First of many I hope!

Kind of a silly post, but I had to share my excitement

Happy Shooting!!!

Congrats! Welcome to the addiction.

Congrats. Before you get to much into buying semi-autos make sure you try a revolver. I bought 3 semi-auto 9mm and then I tried a revolver, wished I'd been introduced to that first (of course a guy really needs several of both).

excellent, potshot. Good choice on the M&P. Just a suggestion... I think your next restricted purchase should be an AR15.

My thoughts exactly! Next purchase is an AR15 for sure as soon as I can free up some funds for it, hopefully before mid-October.

After that it's a toss up between good 357 revolver or a 1911. I've always had a thing for 1911s, but I am interested in trying out a revolver too to cover all the bases.

Congrats on the M&P, great choice, I love the look of the 2.0! You are heading in the right direction with the AR, revolver and 1911 lol, keep up the good work :)

I wouldn't get too excited about about the 1911 unless you're big on the historical aspect. A S&W 686 or a Ruger GP100 (I have both) is pretty much the best thing you shoot. I have a .22 revolver (617) a .22 semi (Browning) many 9mm semis and a Redhawk in .44 and my .357s are the favorites. Don't buy anything until you try a .357 revolver.

My retired former Pastor has one; it is a great pistol, and it really does fit my hand. Nice Gun.

I bought a lower and built my own. That was a ton of fun, and it amortized out the cost... plus I have a very cool rifle that shoots great!

A nice 1911 and a 357mag revolver should be in everyone's stable.

I had revolvers in the past, but am considering a 357 S & W for PPC to reduce the brass chasing. I have a Nork 1911. I had no intention of ever having a 1911, but it was sitting at a dealer in his used gun case, and was cheap; it needed a good clean up as the original owner never cleaned out the brown gunk, and the adjustable sight was way off. A little work and it turned out to be a real shooter. It's a keeper. I likely have put 3-4000 rounds through it, and it's still tight and amazingly accurate.
