So it has been a long time since I reloaded and I've been doing some reading (perhaps not enough) but I have a question about jumping or jamming the bullets. Is the COAL listed in reloading manuals the length that would have the bullet touching the lands (assuming you chamber was to SAAMI specs) and it you wanted to jump or jam then you would adjust you COAL accordingly. Is this correct? or am I way out to lunch? I will be reloading for a 6mm br. Thanks

In a word, no. You would have to determine where the bullet touches the lands in your chamber....each gun can vary.

The book COL is a SAAMI spec intended to keep you safe in a SAAMI chamber. For accurcy, you adjust the COL.

"the jam" is common in benchrest. If you're going to try it, work up you loads as peak book loads will have a much higher pressure when jammed.
