Jumping into the Handgun game

Well that's a good first jump! Ya got a .22 trainer to learn on, and a 9mm for those days when you need a stiffer shot of recoil therapy. In your shoes, my next gun would be a serious wheelgun like an S&W in .357 but preferably in .44 or .41 Magnum. (Do they even make the .41 Magnum anymore? I shot one years ago and loved it). But there is no rush on that - you have a pile of fun in front of you with the guns you have right now.

Be sure to check out that 25m Free Style postal challenge below - and give us a range report if you have the time!

Just buy any CZ 9MM, will shorten your search. I bought several 9MM's prior to my CZ 85 Combat, but none are remotely as accurate. Same reloads in my CZ as compared to my other 9MM's group 50% smaller on average. In fact I get better grouping from my CZ, than my S&W 686 revolver with 38 Special target loads.

++1 A Shadow has most of the nice upgrades from a model perspective .. a great shooter

Thanks everyone for the post, glad to see I made a good choice for my first time. The shop I bought them from I shop at all the time and they gave me a great deal on both of them so I got the Sig for less than a gsg retails for and the Jericho for 80 buck off retail. I am happy with the prices. Now just to get my RPAL card in the mail so I can pick them up SIGH!

The Jericho design is very similar to CZ. So similar it's considered a clone. I've heard some complaints about the safety location and aftermarket support is quite limited but it's a sweet pistol. Heavy and smooth pistol with a nice trigger. I checked out a beretta 92fs and a Jericho 941 side by side and I preferred the Jericho.

Nice pick

The GSG is very popular also.

Which 941 did you pick? Full size steel would be my first choice

I'm in the same boat. Thinking about a first handgun - had my restricted license since the late 90s but never got around to buying one.

Several of you suggested CZs. I've heard they're very accurate but have horrible triggers. Did you guys have to get trigger work done?

You heard wrong. The original CZ 75/85 triggers are fair but the SP-01 /Shadow series have very nice stock triggers.

Does anyone know your trigger weight on your stock SP-01/Shadow? (DA vs SA)
The only listing I could find was in an article. DA 8.5 lb. SA 3.5 lb

Just thought I'd throw it out there but wolverine supplies was selling the cz sp01 shadow for $800 with free shipping. If I hadn't JUST spent $800 on a pistol I would probably opt for that one. With the falling loony the price will probably be going up shortly.
