June 1st Z-Day Zombie Multigun - Poco District Coquitlam BC

CanadaAmmo has generously donated three grand draw prizes for Z-Day 2014, a new DA556 14.5 inch, light profile barrel, DA Grizzly shotgun 12.5 inch barrel with ghost ring sights and a Wetterlings 26 inch Bush Axe.

As well, CanadaAmmo will have a sponsor tent where you may purchase ammunition and select items.

These and other prizes from our other sponsors will be chosen at the awards after stage breakdown.

THIS is why we LOVE Canadaammo!!!!! And the other sponsors!!!!

It's too bad that future multi-gun matches are going to be limited to IPSC/Black Badge shooters only at Poco. I guess I'll stick to Abby, the Okanagan and the USA for multi-gun matches for now.

The primary engine for getting events done at Poco are committees. We are only one committee out of a few. I don't know what the structure is for committees to be formed and recognized at the club but if someone wants to try to put on another event like this with different conditions I welcome them and support their efforts.

Received some correction on the Match Copy.
- essentially on rifle stages you can only use .223 OR a pistol carbine. Basically whatever is lower than .223/.556.
- you could use a 7.62x39 rifle for the one relay stage which is larger than the other stages, however what do you do for the other stages?
- we will have for sale chamber flags for those who haven't brought their own

Some last minute items for those of you who were competing or coming by to watch the fun.

I have been maintaining a waitlist which is currently 6 people long. I recently sent out an email to all competitors and people on the waitlist. Currently around 52 competitors are listed (and assorted volunteers). If I have not contacted you before the match regarding your status, I would suggest still showing up and being ready to go in case a spot opens up.

Some of you also wondered about forming teams for those showing up as partials or individuals. In lieu of the chaos of reordering squadding I suggest that, like in the schoolyard, you'll make what you will with who you can find in your squad.

I had one question about the 'costume prize'. Let's just say that I hope I don't see a sea of camouflage on Sunday. That said, don't wear anything that would be unsafe, obviously. And also, please don't come with fake blood. It may get some observers excited and it is really icky to wear once you've run around in the sun a lot. I know.

See you all on Sunday (or on Saturday if you are helping set up).

Any questions: pocoextremepistol@gmail.com

ps. bring cash for the fee ($5 match fee + $10 day card insurance for non-members)

Just want to say thanks to silveragent and all the others who showed up today for the setup. We had a great time and it was amazing to get to shoot the " Run for the cure" stage.
Look forward to seeing you all there tomorrow.

Regards

Steiner

That was a great day with some awesome stages! I totally shot like crap but it was a wicked time and all of my squad were great to shoot with and very helpful.

One idea for next time though. There were some long waits between stages due to some squad members not pulling their weight and helping patch and reset the stage. I guess sitting on your ass and playing with your phone is more important than lending a hand. I might suggest something like the last 3 gun match I was at, RO gives you 1 warning to get up and help.. you are told a second time .. DQ

Just a suggestion...

i had an awesome time, didnt miss any targets. All my firearms were 100 percent wich puts a huge smile on my face, thanks poco for the awesome time :) and for 15 dollars wow.

great time. just a shame that IPSC is taking this over and you need to be a member in order to play....

I'm not interested in any organization that forces me to prove I can safely handle firearms. If my word isn't good enough for you, you're not good enough for me.

great time. just a shame that IPSC is taking this over and you need to be a member in order to play....

Just to straighten things out. Neither IPSC BC, IPSC Canada nor IPSC World had anything to do with this event and no official IPSC organization can mandate any qualifications for an event that it is not involved in. IPSC is not taking this event over.

I BELIEVE that the Black Badge (IPSC?) requirements are mandated by the PoCo Board of Directors (but I don't know for sure, I'm not a member of that club) and not by the organizers of the event. Perhaps someone else can clarify.

well if you need a black badge, it is pretty much taken over by IPSC, not officially but it is the same thing. when you have to be a member, have to have a black badge......

Im not ipsc and i had a great time, all ipsc guys get to do is use their holster from one stage to the next, they still need to unload and make clear in 3 gun. Not a big deal, and so much fun for 15 bucks. Great event, beautifull day, lots of shooting and great prizes. It was packed , they let everyone on the wait list shoot, canada ammo rocked it, lots of laughs and probably the best day shooting ive had in canada. This was an open event for anyone with an rpal and 3 gun set up, you just couldnt use a holster for pistol unless you had black badge wich only meant after shooting your stage you could holster instead of casing your pistol. So what lol .

Not having holster certification is a liability. Not being able to prove you have a recognized holster qualification from any organization is and should be a bare minimum, why "should your word" qualify you? I am not a member of the POCO club nor are you, how can they assure themselves you are not going to shoot yourself in the foot or worse. Choose to play by their rules or stay home.

im not a IPSC member either. i have a RUC card and a holster qualification from the club. that is not good enough for running a holster. fine. gun starts on the table. but the next match you will need to be black badge. that is what i was told.

Just want to thank all that put on and help set up the match. It was a good day and I shot with some good people. Thanks guys.

Thank you all for your kind words. I am having to decompress with a beer and Game of Thrones now but I want to say how wonderful it was to see the many people volunteering and using their experience to help make this unique event run smoothly. A big shoutout to my ROs, their assistants and their scorers. Tracey who was at the computer all day with scoring. Adam who built many props including our brand new dump barrels. Rod from Tacmatch who made us our new mover. And the core group of volunteers at Poco really stood up.

And let's not forget how above and beyond our sponsors went with our prizes. I can't thank Canadammo, Reliable Gun, CTCS Supplies and Custom Reloading Services enough for giving us such a variety in draw prizes. Those of you who attended the match, when you make your purchases keep in mind who is supporting competitive shooting in the Lower Mainland. It's these guys. (Also thank you to the_klenzer for shelling out for many of our set dressing details and also for an emergency clay supply run).

Finally, we went through the entire match without any disqualifications, only some warnings. A club match is supposed to be fun and a learning process. Inviting newbies and shooters from many disciplines including law enforcement was a big challenge in planning and I'm very happy it went as well as it did. There were a handful of spills, some skin lost but hopefully no scars.
