First good pics I've seen of a POF made rifle. Interesting that it's a No 4 Mk 2, which I had thought were only made by the Brits.
Pakistan purchased tooling from BSA and produced the No4Mk1
Pakistan also purchased tooling from Fazakerly and produced the No4Mk2
The made both models but on different tooling
Somehow the Indian and Pakistani rifles always have an aura of grunginess about them...that's my chief complaint about them.
Agreed
I wonder if the Pakistanis or the Indians put the Ishy screw in?
The Indians did that. This is an Indian capture of a Pakistan made enfield. They would have embedded the ishy screw internally and re-issued it to their troops at some point. The rifle was probably captured in Kashmir during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.Pakistan suffered much heavier material and personnel casualties compared to India. Many war historians believe that had the war continued, with growing loss and decreasing supplies, Pakistan would have been eventually defeated. India's decision to declare ceasefire with Pakistan caused some outrage among the Indian populace, who believed they had the upper hand.
HI CANTOM
THESE PICS ARE WITH THE RIFLE IN AN UNCLEANED CONDITION.
Very greasy and cosmo coverage is sporatic.
I'll post a few more after a proper cleaning and BBQ treatment.
The rifle is built on Fazakerly Tooling in Pakistan's Wah Cantt District. This area is now a military complex of 14 factories producing everything from small to large ordnance.
Type 'Wah Cantt' into Google Earth and see where it takes you.
I've read posts from people like LouPou, who is very good at cleaning up various grades of older stocks...something like Circa 1857 stripper or something along those lines??
I have noticed that your rifles usually just gleam with beautiful wood Riflechair...it'll be interesting to see cleaned up!
I suppose one could say that leaving it in it's current cosmetic condition would be correct...![]()
This showed up this month. Quite excited about this and another SSR piece (that has not yet arrived) for June!
