Trying to figure out what this gun is worth. I have a Jungle carbine No5 MK1. Also has Stampings ROF (F) 9/46 x 55**. Looks like all the numbers match. It has a Monte Carlo sporter stock on it with checkering that is quite nice. bluing is good. What is something like this worth? Over all i would say it is a nice rifle. It also looks like it is drilled and tapped for a scope mount.

When I was a kid Century International Firearms had a warehouse in Montreal that advertized a Jungle Carbine Sporter that was essentially an uncut JC put into a newer checkered stock with a Monte Carlo cheekpiece like you described for $199. They probably refinished some No. 5 carbines that had pretty ratty stocks to make them.

Though not collectable, they looked like an attractively sporterized carbine that would make for a practical deer hunting rifle. Either as is or with a no-gunsmithing scope mount (utilizing the area where the rear site would have been), I'd say it's at least a $200 rifle. If the reciever had been tapped for a difficult to find mount that's gone AWOL or was poorly executed, that would lower its value.

Pics would definitely help.

Bore condition? Matching numbers on receiver and bolt? Rear sight still intact and marked to 800, not 1300? How does it shoot?

Not that I might have a project in mind, or anything....

;)

Probably just keep it if i can only get 150 for it, Thought i might try selling it if it was worth more since it magically appeared in the safe last thursday at Midnight:). I haven't tried the whole selling thing as i prefer too buy.

There seems to be a lot of these magically appearing rifles lately.Unfortunately they seem to be sporting fine hand crafted bed liner stocks and high tech red dots.I think I would keep it until the next government makes it a highly collectible firearm that you could sell on the black market for maybe $75 to $100.

If not worth restoring, it could make a nice "Psuedo Scout" rifle, there's a forward scope mount available for LE's, and it's actually closer to Cooper's Scout than a lot of factory Scouts. Either way, it's a good solid, hard hitting compact utility rifle.
