Great job Lou. I'm in the process of bringing a Jungle Carbine back to original, it was sporterized and bubba'd a bit. I have a question for you. Is the No4 hand guard band the same as the Jungle Carbine band?
Yup, the rear "ring" and the band are No4 parts, no worries there.
The No5 and No4 bands are actually quite different. The no4 band is taller and more oval shaped, whereas the no5 is more "stout" if that makes any sense.
Ha ha ha!!! Bigdp51, this is what happens when you combine the following ingredients together:
1. Last year's work on the house foundation
2. A very snowy winter
3. Two german shorthaired pointers and one Weimaraner. (sorry, one GSP is missing in this picture...)

Stratton is wrong I guess.
These arent my pictures because I dont want to take my rifles apart (again) to compare the two.
Not to beat this horse to death but. Skennerton, The Lee Enfield on Canadian trials #5s, pg323 states that the bands are to be interchangeable with #4 mk1*. I assumed that they would have taken that standard from the Brits as it was a very similar copy. I have only worked on a couple of #5s and am by no means an expert. On my present project I am useing a #4 band for my hybrid #5.
But then, my top hand guard is carved from a mauser hand guard![]()
