Just a couple sweet pics.

RA stopped production on it around 2002 I think - so the only ones you can find would be used - and they're pretty rare at that!

Here's a pic of me shooting my M96 at the recent CQB clinic at Border - its fun being a little different. The rifle shoots great - I had some feeding problems (RRA 10 rd mags) - I worked on them this week & its cycling perfectly. And I picked up some EMags :)

M96 looks great, almost better than XCR for the traditionalist.
I'm sure the new system is more reliable. But if you aren't addicted to rails, sure provides a nice alternate.

the M96 is pretty bad ass, too bad they stopped production for the XCR...

Could someone take a series of photo detailing the different parts of the gun? bolt, charging handle gas system, etc. Similar to what someone did for the SAN rifle in another thread.

PS. What back pack is that in the last pic?

It's a really nice design & a nice looking rifle - but it does have its quirks & it's heavy. I will be stripping it down for a good cleaning after next weekends service rifle clinic (I haven't cleaned it since I got it a year ago) - so I'll post pics of all the inner workings.

Yeah, nice gun. I take solace in the fact that the job that buys such toys has you in a place that has snow in April. I didn't see snow at all this year (or oct, nov, dec 2009 for that matter):p . Weak, I know, but it's all I've got as a come back at this moment...

Obviously reliability isn't an issue here !
Yeah, not too bad! - I've only put around 2K rounds through it though - but it looks really clean & accuracy hasn't suffered, so I figure no need. The long-stroke gas system keeps everything clean - all I do is lube the bolt & carrier.

It would be nice if RA made some more, or at the very least put a small inventory of spare parts for the M96. I bet they'd be surprised at how much positive reaction & sales they'd get from M96 owners who really like this rifle.

I talked with Robarms and there is very small inventory of small parts available for a guy in jam, no major assemblies, just the little stuff. I got lucky and the rifle came with a complete spare parts kit in the buttstock. The rifle functions flawlessly every time I have fired it and I have about 1500 rounds through it now. Since I put on the Magpul UBR and top rail on it is starting to pack on the pounds, but balances nicely. The ACOG is a treat to use, very clear and super, super tough. I really wish they would start making these beauties again. Will post some more pics next time I get out. Cheers!

That's true - I guess I mean more like spare barrels & bolts, carbine/recon kits - things you'd need 10000 rounds down the road - I will hit 5000 for sure this summer.

And if you ever break the bolt, you have a very expensive paperweight. And how cool would a 6.8SPC conversion kit be? The rifle could easily handle a bigger caliber....

Question: Did any of the top feed models make it in to the country. I seem to recal RA had some prototypes out there. Not sure if It went into production. Nice looking rifle BTW.

Edit to add immage. Found a picture of one.

I had the bolt on my m96 break a few years back, i thought i was up s*#t creek without a paddle haha. I called wolverine supplies right away and they got a new bolt for me. I wish that RA still made them. I seem to shoot my swiss arms more tho haha

The Top Feed kit made the gun restricted so no one imported.

One of my projects is to make a top feed conversion for a buddy. Going to use the existing barrel and just make an offset pic rail to mount an optic.

Hey Armedsask that sounds like really cool project. I am wondering why the top feed would be restricted just cause it feeds from the top (very Brenish) or did they use a shorter barrel? There are very few accessories floating around for these rifles, I did manage to find an original Robarms full length top rail w/ BUIS from Zefarm. I would like to put a rail on the underside of the forearm for a vert grip, might have to mod a chunk of rail.
