I see what you're getting at now. If you try this again, consider making a template for your router. A type that will trap your router side-to-side and allow it to move freely in the area you want to excavate. This way sneezing won't cause a mark and you can do tapers fairly easily.

I have my wood and glue picked out, but would like to know a little more about how you made the adjustable cheek piece?
The farmboy in me has a few ideas, but they won't look very good when I'm done.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

How did the wood/metal fit come out for the bottom metal area ?
R U gonna skim bed that floorplate in or just fiddle with the fit and finish of it as is ?

hey sorry the build has been on hold for the past couple weeks.
wolverine just got thier aics .223 mags back in stock, so they are on thier way to me. once i get them i'll be able to finish the stock. i wanted to wait till i am able to make sure ammo will cycle through the gun without any fiddling being done to the bottom metal. so once they are in it wont be long before i have a finished picture.
i'll be bedding the stock, i'm trying to source some devcon at the moment.
kevin g as for your questions, i'm going to pillar bed so that will take away the need of skimming the bottom metal portion. i used a take off bit for a dremel tool to get my depth, i'll post pictures of what it looks like, because without that little tool, this project would have been way harder.

Update: mags were shipped out teusday, I expect them early next week. I found a place that supplies Devon, and I found a gunsmith who will make me a nice set of pillars.
Found a thin rubber buttpad for $10 at Sail.
Ordered a Sightron 8x32x56 with a set of nf rings, just got my Timney trigger in the mail, bolt is getting a tactical bolt knob on as well.
The project is coming together quickly, just can't rush anything at this point.
