Just Another 6.5 {56k Beware}

Not to be rude, I just am trying to understand. Is not this cartridge along the lines of the 30WCF?
And if so, why all the excitement for it and not the 30-30? After all it has been around much longer. Is this old cartridge so much less capable than this new one? Could not the 30WCF not been improved upon a long time ago as in the 30-30 Ackley improved? Is it just because the US military has taken an interest in it?

Nice Job on the rifle. Great groups, easy to load for , and very efficient.

The 6.5 Lapua and 6.5 Creedmore are fine examples of modern cartridge design. Loaded with 130 grain Nosler AccuBonds, or similar hunting bullets, it is possible to achieve 2900+ fps from a 24" barrel. That makes a nice, easy recoiling hunting rifle with 1179ft. lbs. remaining energy at 500 yards and a drop of 41" from a 200 yard Zero.

The 30-30 Win loaded with everyone's favorite Win 170 PP's has only 1166 ft.lbs. energy at 150 yards and would drop 113.48" if you tryed to shoot 500 yards. I consider it a 175 yard moose gun in the hands of a good marksman. There really is no comparing a 6.5 Lapua to a 30-30 Win, even if improved.
