But it's mine! My first 1911. I have to admit, I'm not smitten with the 1911 platform, at least not yet. But what self-respecting pistol shooter doesn't have at least one?

It is a gorgeous gun, great fit and finish for the money...while I can appreciate the guys who spend big bucks on the high end 1911s as well as those who go for the offshore specials, the Ruger seems like a terrific middle ground for a guy like me to get into the 1911 world.

Hey that gun looks just like the one i got in the mail about a month ago! You should have no problem getting used to the 1911 platform. It is by far my favorite and I have owned, handled, and shot a lot of different platforms. 1911's are like cheese burgers I've never met one I didn't like!

But I think I'll pass on the Ruger SR1911 for the time being....too many toys and can't decide which one needs to go to make space to the SR.

Thanks guys. Plan on going out on Sunday and shooting it as well as another toy that arrived this week. Is there anything better than a couple of new guns and a wide open day at the range?

Haven't even GOT the 1st one yet! I've been shooting my Sig Nitron Rail these days. I'm 2nd and 3rd in line for the next order of SR1911's at Dante and I'm hoping to maybe get consecutive serial #'s

congrats - I hope that you enjoy yours as much as I have mine. Will be 14 months day after tomorrow. Monthly USPSA match today put her at 7414 rounds, 7238 of those my reloads, mostly lead. I am still very happy with this purchase.

I wish at this time of year, a lot cooler up there. I am about 90 miles southeast. If you asked because wondering if I bought Ruger where made, nope - distribution only, stores in Prescott did not have any early days after release. Got mine in Phoenix.
