Is there any possibilities that ducks become endanger coz of hunting them down?

Looking to take active participation with everyone here.

No but destruction of thier wetlands and breeding grounds will endanger them .

If this year is any indication out here, ducks are doing just fine, they're everywhere. Lots of sloughs, potholes, this year so lots of breeding sites. In the overall picture, hunting takes a very small percentage of birds. In places where birds are heavily hunted(like S. Ont.), the birds just move on, to a quieter place.

Hunting has never caused any game species to be extinct or placed on the endangered species list....ever!
We are the guys that started the conservation movement and are the largest group actively participationg in it.!
How do you like them apples......

hunting did play a roll in the passenger pigeon thing though but modern hunting regulations should prevent that from happening

passanger pigon, dodo, mamoth, all in past. we strive for a controled population. Consevation is not interested in the individual but the population.Who started seasons, limits and protected areas,HUNTERS.

Definitely, I attend the DU dinner every year, never see any "anti" hunters contributing, making donations or buying up the art works. Out here in Southern Alberta, the fields are littered with ducks and geese basking in the ponds are lakes created by the huge amount of snow from this past winter. It sure looks good.

Didn't hunting cause the bison's near extinction though? Hopefully we have grown wiser.

That was COMMERCIAL HUNTING! I will rephrase for you "Recreational Hunting has never placed an animal on the endangered species list... ever!":bangHead: ;)

I thought turkeys were hunted to extinction? But that was a long time ago, now they don't give you long enough seasons for hunting. What’s with only 1 week shotgun hunt for deer, they should make it 2.

Ducks will never go extint from hunting there's just too many areas you can't hunt. In the cities there everywhere.

Turkeys are quite obviously not extinct... unless they can become un-extinct somehow that I am not aware of!
They were eradicated in some areas prior to 1900... due to hunting pressure logging and other factors.
Reintroduction BY HUNTING GROUPS has replaced this bird in almost all of its former range.

"...I thought turkeys were hunted to extinction?..." If they were extinct where do you suppose the current flocks came from?
"...only 1 week shotgun hunt for deer..." Only in some WMU's based on deer numbers in that area.
