I just bought an ADL .25-06 of the EE forum. I was planning on using this for wolf hunting. What experiences do you have with this calibre? What other animals and at what ranges have you used it and what was the performance like? What is a good bullet / powder combination for wolves? I have dies coming but have no experience with this calibre.

Best regards,

I load for a friends 25-06. 100 grain Barnes TSX over enough H4831 to make 3280 fps. Accuracy is good and so is killing performance on deer, stones sheep, and has even been used on moose and elk when the opportunity presented itself. Its a nice cartridge, flat shooting and low recoil.

For wolves, I think the 100 grain Ballistic Tip would be a good choice.

I just bought my second 25-06 last week. I really enjoy this caliber. My first was a stevens and my new one is a savage 112 varminter.Haven't shot the new one yet but the old one sure liked IMR 4831 as well as rl-22.A joy to shoot at the range.Hopefully warm up on thursday and I can shoot some then.Hope to try it at some 500-600 yard ranges just to see what it can do.The 26 inch tube on the 112 should give me a bit more velocity over the 22 inch stevens.

I 'got' the same thing. Love it. As / aprevious post, and if you're interested, PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you a scan of what my results were with one of my first batch of reloads, at 185 yds.

25-06

the 25-06 is super deer killer, I load 120s incase I meet a bear or an elk
I have shot 8 deer (muleys and whitetails) with it (all one shot kills). what I like is watching the bullet strike in the scope there is so little recoil to it you know exactly where you hit the animal.

I hunt with magnums all the way up to the 416 Rigby but I like the 25-06 the best.

Matt.
