Just bought a CQ311 Norinco, can these be accessorized like M4's??

I was just wondering if the older CQ311 rifles from Norinco can be decked out with all the standard AR dressy bits and pieces?? Are there different tolerances with the metal/plastic to suggest aftermarket parts wont fit easily?
It has a 20" barrel and the old fashioned long handguard. If I choose to "update" its look to more current M4 guise, its it just a matter of ordering the parts and slapping them in?
It has the older 1:12 twist barrel. If I chose to go with a shorter barrel with a faster twist down the road, is it a quick fix, or would the barrel threads and etc be different. Thanks from a first time, soon to be owner of a .223 rem Black rifle. Not a big deal if I can't.

All the threads on the older 311's are metric. Meaning you can't do much about the stock or the barrel unless it's custom made. But any hand guard should fit on just fine. I thought i read at one point in time that somebody sold an adapter for the metric stock but i forget who sold it. You could also change the grip and reuse the metric bolt. If you can handle the industrial grey paint, changing those parts makes a good difference. The accuracy was the exact same as my Armalite when it had irons. Never could find an optic for the 311 to compare beyond that, the carry handle is not detachable.

I had a Norc CQ311 and I did change the stock on it. Make a phone call to Fabrice at Fabsports. He makes and sells the adaptor to fit any new stock on your old CQ311.
See on this pic the top rifle was my old CQ311 with new stock, new handguard and new pistol grip.
