I was wondering if there is any way to figure out what factory this came out of. It may be old stock o was thinking. Its a stainless laminate model. Works very well so far. Aaron

Congratulations on your new gun! I have the exact same model and it's one of my favorite guns, and certainly the most accurate semi I've owned.

The roll stamp on the barrel will tell you where the parts were made. Mine says north haven. New ones say illion. The serial number counts back from 2100, for example mine starts with 91 so it was made in 2009, 92 would be made in 2008 etc...

Here's the grey area... When CEREBUS bought marlin they moved a pile of guns, gun parts, and machinery to the Remington plant in illion, and remingtons distribution center in Madison NC. So the only way to find out where your gun came from is to look at the shipping label on the end of your box the gun came in. But even that is conveluded, because your gun could have a north haven roll stamp, serial number starting with 92, and still have come from either Illion NJ or Madison NC. Because the marlin built gun may have been boxed up there, or it may have been assembled from old marlin stock there also. The only sure way to know is if the box says north haven on the shipping label, but I'm doubtful that it will. Most of those got snatched up pretty quick.
My personal opinion is that if your serial number starts between 91-99, and has a north haven roll stamp, it was more than likely built at the old plant and shipped to the new plant before being boxed up and sent to a distributor.

If the barrel says illion, and you have a serial number starting with 90 or 89 etc... It's a remlin.

Thank you! It starts with 91 and says north haven. I can't find any location markings on the box. Does this work for all marlins? My 3030 is also a 91 and same place. I bought it nov 21 2009. Would that mean the 60 has been sitting for 2 years?

That's interesting, I got one at the beginning of this spring, shows the north haven stamp and serial 915###xx.

I thought it would have been a remlin by then still but I guess not.

Fantastic gun though, hopefully even the 92######x models will be decent, but I couldn't have been happier with this little guy. Mine does NOT like standard/low velocity ammo, or Winchester or Remington ammo. It does best with Federal Champion and American Eagle, both of which are very cheap and plentiful so I really cannot complain. I haven't had a single misfire with Federal or AE to date, and I am currently about halfway through 3000 rds of Fed/AE high velocity.

Maybe yours will be a bit different.

Accuracy wise it's really outstanding for a semi, we shoot bottlecaps at 50 yards and 75 yards without any issues.

I put a Konus 4x scope on her as well and am really pleased, great scopes for the cost, really clear optics. I am left eye dominant but right handed so using iron sights is really difficult for me, and I cannot shoot left handed to save my life.

Annnnywayy. That was probably more info than you were looking for. But yea, great little guns.

Mine had a lot of problems with dynapoints but seems to like 555s. As soon as the crazy amount of snow stops falling I'm going to group test it. Its already way better then the 795 I bought last year. It looks nice too!

At the butt end of the box it should have a sticker on it with a UPC code and shipping info.
This works for all newer marlins made after 2000, the pre 2000 models had a different system i wont get into for lack of typing time. Regarding your 60, it may have been sitting in a distribution warehouse for 2 years which is not uncommon, or it may have been recently assembled from old stock parts. Either way, I would not consider yours a remlin, as it seems to be the quality control of the parts manufacturing that separates the two.

A serial number starting with 92 would be 2008 manufacture and almost certainly old factory built.

If you take the first 2 numbers on newer models and subtract from 2100, you get the mfg date. ie;

2100
- 92

2008

Mine LOVES CCI standard velocity, but shoots everything really well. Give it a break in period of a brick or so to start cycling to it's fullest potential. I also polished the bolt lightly with 400grit oiled wet/dry sandpaper. I dont know if that made a difference because I did it before I shot it. But mine even cycles cci subsonics no problem. But again, I made my action butter smooth which I'm sure helps a lot with subsonic stuff.

Here is a video series I studied big time when I got my 60. It's a riot to watch this guy, and he will show you a lot of tricks for getting your marlin to perform to it's greatest potential. I credit the application of techniques demonstrated in this video series to my 60's ability to cycle subsonic ammunition without any failures whatsoever. It stays cleaner longer also. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED VIEWING!!!

I just bought one myself. I hate to say it cause I'm a die hard 10/22 guy but its awesome! You need to do a lot of tweaking to a ruger to make it as accurate as a marlin.

They certainly dont suffer in the accuracy department. If i do my part, mine will shoot under an inch with the factory iron sights at 50m. I can't wait to see what it does with a scope if i ever get around to mounting one.

This was a 10 shot group, and 6 shots landed in the bottom cluster. The flyer was typical of the batch of CCI Standard velocity i had at the time. One or two rounds out of each box of 50 went way off target. This thing shoots green tag like its nobodys business though. Center square is 1"x1", outer is 2"x2".

Great shooting!

I was out with mine today and took er out to 100 yards with the cheap Federal's. I was just using the back of a camp chair to rest it on so it wasn't real steady but groups were between 2-3" so I can't complain, the gun continues to impress me, especially for the price. 50 yards I usually have no trouble with 1" groups (with a scope of course), and I'm confident if I were to use better ammo I could shrink the groups at 100 too.
