Just bought a new 580 series Mini-14 today. Stainless steel with black plastic stock. Will hopefully try it out on the morrow.

Should be a great gun. I have a stainless synthetic one. Trigger is not good, but if I take my time I can get 1.5" with it all day. Never jams.

I am impressed with the accuracy of this little hunting rifle. With iron sights it grouped very well with reloads as well as brand name soft point hunting rounds at fifty yards. Just got a scope so I'll see how much better I can do at fifty and then one hundred.

Factory 5 rounders , designed for 5 from factory, are the cats ass in the mini, much like the factory 10 rounders in the 10/22

I had one. Loved it. It shot well. Never should have sold it. ENJOY!

I even had an ancient relic of an old mini14 that shot halfways decent despite the odd jam. THen I replace the worn out main spring and Boom! No more stoppages!

There is a reason why these guns have been inproduction for so long.

Five rounds at fifty yards with the Mini-14's excellent iron sights. Top picture is Remington 55gr soft points and the second is Federal 55gr soft points (the last two shots were when I changed position and obviously didn't use the same point of aim.

The new 580 Mini's are great little rifles for hunting small game and varmint shooting. And the small five round magazines are well made and handy. I like this rifle.

The 10 shot clips are about a 1" longer than the 5 shot so it does not hang down to far. Usually good quality from what I see and would be good for calling in the dogs when they come in multiplies.
