I just bought a radom and on the left slide it says fb radom vis mod 35 pat nr15567, the serial number is p6137 , it has wooden grips with no symbols on them. it also says 77 on the slide with three marks above it. what can anybody tell me about it??

also I bought a S&W victory model in 38 cal with it.

lots of research to do.

The P-35 pistol was adopted by the Poles in 1935. It was made at the Radom Arsenal. The initials of the pistol's designers was VIS and VIS also means "power" in Latin. So that part of the designation was a cute play on words.

The fb part stands for the Polish word for "factory"

P-35 pistols were also made under German occupation. Your gun was made under German occupation because the digits "77" are the German waffenamt or ordnance mark.

You should have your pistol checked out by a good gunsmith as some of the German-made guns were sabotaged.

In any event, you have a wonderful pistol and in interesting piece of history. By the way, the Radom plant was later destroyed at the end of World War 2 by the Russians.

Joe.
