Just bought a Ruger number 1A in. 280

I shot it today, first time out 154 Hornady Interlock with 54 grains of IMR 4831 after a quick sight in, it shot several groups about 3/4” .

I've been shooting the .280 (Browning A-Bolt) for almost 30 years. One of the most accurate loads, ever, in my rifle was the 154 Interlock and 53.5 grains, I believe, of IMR 4831.
It shoots nearly as well with H4831, but not quite.

It also loves the 140 Accubond and 139 SST with max loads of H4831.

You have a fine rifle in that 280! Enjoy!
I have a couple of #1 Rugers in my possession ATM
One is an original #1AB in 7x57
The other a #1B, originally a 30-06, but rechambered to 308 Norma Magnum.
First outing, I shot a moose with the #1B.
Have to love the way those #1 rifles carry. Dave..

That AB was almost mine by a minute! Dang it!

Sorry about that! :) I foolishly sold a 1AB in 7x57 3 decades ago, and was looking to replace it ever since.
When this one showed, I jumped all over it. What a sweet rifle they are!
I love the #1 action, it is like a vault. That 280 of the OP will be a great "carry" rifle as well. Dave.

Thanks this .280 is a fine addition to my #1 collection, also have 25-06, 6.5x55, 30-30, 9.3x74, 45/70, and .458

Posting pictures on here has proven to be beyond my technical skill level, I have tried and given up in complete frustration.

Here is the OP's #1 as shown with his 458. Nice pair! :)

Really nice indeed! For a stock rifle the no1 has to be the best looking gun out there at an “affordable” price… especially the RSI models!

A (very) old favorite of mine is an RSI in 7x57, joined a few years ago by a really nice 1A in .280 Rem. The only issue has been finding good brass for the .280. I have a good supply of nickle-plated .280 brass but would very much like to find some "brass brass" (i.e. not plated).

Delightful rifles.

I got Peterson brass for my 280 rem from Budget Shooter Supply. He had to special order it in. I also use Starline 30-06 brass necked down to 280.
