Just bought a used Thumler's tumbler Model B

Mine has the older model motor which leaves the stator exposed to the outside, not covered by the red sheet metal.
You know it when your skin touches it after a couple hours running.

From my work experience making linear motors, I know heat kills windings over time.

Thumler's Model B Tumbler Motor - High Speed (Brass Tumbling) $109.99

This is the high speed (3000 rpm) replacement motor designed for brass tumbling in Thumlers Model B tumbler. It is a thermally protected motor that will shut off automatically if it gets too hot. Easy to replace, just remove the belt, mounting screws and replace. This motor does not fit other tumblers.

Mine gets hot to the touch, but not so hot you can't touch it. It's the red motor. I think it might be the low speed version (1550 RPM) for rocks though.

I paid a pittance for my used Model AR12, so I expected to have to change parts at some point, but I ended up buying a frankford arsenal when an Amazon seller messed up his pricing, so I don't used the Thumler much anymore.
