hello I just bought an norinco ar yesterday and picking it up tomorrow. I don't really know ar 15s all that well so I need some guidance. Are the norinco parts compatible with other ARs? Any thing that I need to know about them (good or bad)? Thanks in advance
Trevor

seems to be the general consencus that they arent compatible with a lot of aftermarket parts with out doing a little bit of custom fitting...I recommend buying some ammo and shooting it...the add ons arent really neccesary and honestly worth adding to it...I have one that I use on a regular basis and then I use a Sig M400 for my more serious shooting...the Norc is reliable and fun to shoot without all the add ons...maybe throw a scope on it but other than that save your cash and enjoy the fact that its a decent, reliable gun and it does everything that the other do for a portion of the cost.

Havent had a single issue with mine...clean it well before firing inside and out...there was a previous issue with people finding some type of fabric in the chambers so check everything out before firing..never found anything in mine but check it out anyways

We have two Norinco M4 clones, they simply work... For someone who's just looking to have some fun at the range, they are a great gun! Only mods we have done is to add scopes & my wife put pink furniture on hers... Chuckle!

Cheers

Don't bother upgrading anything on it. Shoot it as is, using any money you were thinking of using for upgrades on ammunition instead. Buy copious amounts of Norc yellow box and blast away.

I upgraded my Norc M4 with Magpul grip and stock, plus some Magpul mags and a vickers sling. Now it has much better ergonomics which I think well worth the extra $. The sling and mags could be transfered to other ar in the future if I decide to upgrade. Right now I'm satisfied with the Norc.

Upgrading and customizing your AR 15 is half the fun of owning them. They are like barbie dolls for men. Just dont expect to get your money out of them if you decided to sell.

Don't buy ONE!

Buy TWO of them. :)

Many of the CQB competitors rock their Nork M4 carbines and have great results (nice and sloppy assembly is a good thing). :)

Keep shooting that baby lots and lots and lots!

Cheers,
Barney

Keep all the stock parts if u decide to up grade. Not like u can get much out of used norinco bits. Them put it back to stock when u decide to sell the gun in the future and throw the goodies into your next AR. U won't lose much on selling a used norinco. I sold most sub 1000 dollar guns for almost same price as I get them for.

I will say I've been more than pleased with mine. Accuracy is fine for me I only shoot 100-200 yards. Gun never fails and eats any ammo.

Went to an AR-15 training session and had zero problems -- of course I did clean it thoroughly first.
Someone else with an expensive AR needed his rails polished and lubed before it would feed properly.

Thanks for all the info. I picked it up last week and love it. Shoots great. I just put a quad rail and red dot on it. I can see half the fun of owning one is modding it.

While we're discussing the M4 Norinco CQB rifle, can anyone tell me the barrel twist?

I checked the Specifications page in the manual (the pamphlet with the flying saucers), but no luck.
