I think pretty much all the Norcys have a chrome lined barrel.

The gas tube isn't chromed!

Did it come with the original cleaning kit in the buttstock?

If not order one from SKS man in the usa.

the 858 isn't junk, it's just that some of them have issues with the FCG and the non-chromed barrel isn't as durable as on a 58.

Solution? Forego the 858, get a normal "restricted" endorsement and buy the Marstar type VZ58S with shorter chrome lined bore and more reliably converted FCG.

#### I have restricted PAL, and had my hands on a vz58 that Milarm had for three something... no accessories though...

Sounds good - assuming you didn't get one with a malfunctioning FCG ;)

There's a market for the 858 - but frankly I will never be part of it as I would never want to hunt with one anyhow. It's a range toy - no more, no less.

Agreed Claven it is a range toy, BUT a range toy that I can shoot at my what ever range... hehe:shotgun: :runaway: Curtton I am with you, I did the pros and cons too, I decided the 858 was the more fun way to go... I hate being restricted to some range. I like the fact that if I want to go out in the forty, I can pack my baby along for the trip if I want too...

Restricted sucks. I clean my guns after every outing so chromed bores are no big deal. I have 2k rounds through my 858 without a problem. Never had a prob with my FCG either. I can take it anywhere and plink more than just paper. Agreed though, its no hunting gun!

i've read that puoring hot water thru the barrel will dissolve the salts??
if so do you pour it thru the gas tube area too?
thnaks

thats correct, also the gas rod.

I think most do it after every shooting session. I just use windex followed by hoppes.

so how often do you do the hot water treatment? after so many rounds or after every time you shoot it?
thanks

if you use only the hot water treatment then its every time you use it.

what are some other methods?

Any other methods are more complicated then they have to be, you need only hot water, and a funnel that you can hold with one hand that will fit in the chamber.

Then clean and oil as you would any other rifle.
If you have the original cleaning kit, learn to use it as it is better then any modern version for this rifle.

I checked and it's not an sks....it is a jack handle after all. Although it does group a lot better than the sks I did shoot........:shotgun:

then you better have that jack handle registered.

Hey 303 carbine admitted to using an SKS!

I knew sooner or later He was going to come out of the milsurp closet, and admit it...next step is to admit that he learned that he was a bad shot, so he blamed the rifle instead. :D

i was expecting a bash 'em up regular SKS but it turned out to be a very nice "D" .... congrats..... now, what good is the mag sitting on the table? it should be in the rifle so we can see what it really looks like.:D
