Well i had the local shop owner put the guide gun away for me to pick up tomorrow. Should be lotsa fun. Sure nice to live in a town that has a shop that sell guns and reloading supplies.:D

congrats on the Marlin, I'm sure you will love it

try getting some heavy hardcast bullets loaded up, they would be my ideal choice for the 45/70 (bear defense and all...*pounce*)

It certainly is a pain to have to travel 4 hours to buy reloading supplies.

...............yup i hear ya Crayton. There is also three gyms. Not bad for a town of 8300. I often wonder why the Fort never had a gun store that lasted. Lord knows there is alot of enthusiasts. Lots of people use the range but we had to travel 4 hours for components. Doesn't make sense

The main reason that a gunshop has never lasted in Fort Mcmurray is that the vast majority of people will buy their supplies from wallmart or Canadian tire and their guns from wholesale sports in edmonton to save a few percent.A small business simply can't buy their supplies in large enough volumes to offer the same prices and not enough people will pay a little extra to keep a gunshop viable.

I thought that was strange that there wasn't a gunshop in the Fort

I figured people don't have enough extra time off from work to hunt.

SC..........................

Where did you buy it and how much $$$ (if I may ask)?

............i paid 700.00 with tax at the local sporting goods/gun store. Thats 60.00 more than wholesale but i just moved here and would like to support the local fella here as he sells powder and components as well. The extra 60.00 is worth it to me as he was great to deal with and i didn't have to deal with the Wholesale guys which sometimes is about as enjoyable as getting your ##### caught in a meatgrinder.:D

Ouch!I guess that your experiences with the wholesale staff were even worse than mine.
