Just Bought My First Black Gun. AR-180B

I sent him a PM to ask him but I think he's out of town so I may not get a reply for a while. I think it must have been. I think I can see the spots where it was welded. Two circles on top, one next to each screw.

It was probably drilled and tapped because the welds broke. If you want my oppinon, I say get a length of picatinny base stock and mount it to the top, completely get rid of the moutning plate.

I loathe the factory mounting plate.

Ok. Ah.........hey Armedsask.............can I borrow some money?

On a more serious note, I kinda like the mounting plate. Espeshally with the quick-detach scope mount. I'm getting good accuracy so far, so untill I have a problem I think I'll keep it as it is.

Adding a picatinny rail will cost you under $100.

You can get the rail stock from Brownells for I think $50. Then getting it drilled and tapped will be your only other cost.

1 more day :) I'm going to p myself

I'm going to take it to TSE (calgary) tomorrow night and plink off a few rounds.

I just bought that quck-detach scope mount. Arm, I'm going to take it slow. First this mount, then when it falls off and my fustration level reaches the max point I'll do what you suggest. But until then I just don't feel quite rigth about drilling some holes into my new baby.

I'll post pics when I get it :)

"PUSSY" hehe..Thats who paid for it :)

Anyway It's here!!! I had it sent to my work and it looks FN awsome. The manual says I should take it apart and clean it before I start to break it in. Should I do this?

I would like to take it to the range and fire a few shots through it after work. What should I do?

This day can not go by any slower....arg!

Is it brand spanking new? It's always a good idea to clean guns that have come straight from the factory as there can be some filings and such left. Even if it's used, not a bad idea to give it a good cleaning.

As for breaking it in, depends who you talk to on doing that. Some people say it does help, others say it doesn't. I'm lazy and just shot it.

Funny thing the safety/fire switch does not move very well. It's kinda stuck in the fire position....I don't think this is normal?

The hammer must be cocked for the safety to move freely. You can not swtich the selector to safe if the rifle is not cocked. Not uncommon on firearms.
