Hey everyone, I am really new at this as this is my first Norinco M14. I have been reading the stickies and all the threads on this weapon. So far I think the weapon is fantastic and I really am looking forward to trying it out. :)

Welcome! I'd say it's time to get a second job for ammo and accessories (and more M14's) but then you'd have no time for shooting or fiddling with your rifle. If you've got some expensive family hierlooms to sell, you should be okay though...

Hey Hungry, I have been thinking of coming to the clinic, I don't have all the tools on your list. Also this Saturday has been booked by my domestic niner. Will you have another clinic again?

I don't have one but had a chance to try it a few days ago. I really enjoyed shooting it, not sure if its M14 or the caliber but feels good. About 2 MOA from the shelf and factory ammo - not too bad at all. Maybe I should sell my Lungman and JC? OK, ok that was a joke. Seriously, now I understand why so many people own them M14's. I also think we are lucky having Norinco selling those great rifles to us.

I am waiting for marstar to get them back in stock....they said it would be a few weeks......can't wait!

thanks for that info....I think :p

I just convinced myself earlier today that I should probably have a second one and was going to phone Marstar next week to find out what the status was. Guess I better get my name on the list now :)

non-related question - does anybody ever shoot Norc M14 the way it comes to you? I mean no modifications just grab and shoot. How shootable is it? How good are iron sights?

first one i ever owned i never did a thing too.... didn't know a thing about it, just fed it ammo. commercial and surplus. after about 2000 rounds i sold it to a buddy and he still shoots the same unmodified rifle to this day. BUT these rifles vary and some have decent sights some have crappy sights. some have good flash hider front sights..... some are not machined correctly. SO depends on the rifle you get.... but most are good to go right outta the box.... de cosmolined first of course

29/30 onto a lifesized human silhouette at 200 yard with the stock irons, once I battle zeroed them, most inside the six ring.

This was my first time out shootingmy '14, my first time shooting anything in .308, and my first time shooting beyond 120 meters.

In other words, pretty darn good if even a total noob like me can use them :).

I have a stock one no alterations - came nice and tight - nice ping - shoots very well - better than G.I. milspec , shot even better with a scope though . My modified ones shoot even better.
I would have no hesitation in using a stock norc - trouble is the temptation to dress em up is overpowering -:)
