Just bought my first Norinco M14!

They shoot pretty good out of the box. That's why I'm leaving one iron sights only and enjoying the rifle the way it was originally intended. I can hit a shoe box sized gong at 200 yards off the bench 3/5 times with iron sights. 5/5 though with a scoped M14.

Ya yes, the Norc M-14. The weaponry equivalent of crack...

I've managed to keep myself at just one, but every time I read this thread I get the shakes:D

Ya I have already been pricing out all the mods......I don't even own one yet and already think about it on a daily basis......Hey I was born in Chilliwack...still have all my family there, nice to see someone from my home town!

i just picked one up today.i checked 3 out.the one on the rack was sold so i looked at a second.that one was a wee bit under-indexed so i checked a third.that one looked good so i took it.pics to follow.i also, while i was over there, tried out a glock 17 for size(test fired).marstar has stock,or so i was told, but their waiting for all the backorders to clear to reopen the flood gates...if you want one NOW!!! then crafm is the place to go.nice guys, great service,no hassles...:dancingbanana:

I picked one up also today, which is surprising for me, I normally never buy a rifle before I have read a whole lot about it. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do. I got one fresh out of a bag in a box so at least I know its not one toy boy looked at and put back lol , hopefully all this indexing and head space stuff I know nothing about and hear you guys talk about is all good. (crossin my fingers) Might have to sell one of my sks's to make room in my little safe now.

Also have to say how friendly the guys are there. I got to fondle a nice $4000 custom handgun while I there waiting. Me thinks I need to sign up for a restricted course if they ever find an instructor.

My first M305 was unaltered and shot great, actually it was the best shooter out of all my ironsighted rifles. I think you will find the same thing. It was only after reading these posts that I got interested in the tweaking side of things. Most upgrades are cheap and are fairly easy to accomplish. The difference after a tune up(no GI stock) was only slightly noticeable as it shot well to start with! Luckily for us,this site is home to a lot of experts who are willing to share their knowledge(Laz for one) which makes the job a lot easier. If you are able to handle the merchandise, a thorough read of the data base before purchase will save a lot of heartbreak when it comes to quality control or the lack of, and all the fixes are here if you get a lemon. Cheers, now find some ammo.. fast... before it dries up or gets stupidly expensive!

You should get a multi tool in there too! It works on a lot of things like gas cylinder plug and trigger guard and is part of the kit. And the import mark is Southfield Michigan IIRC, same as mine and the same as my TT33 NorcTok too

You mean none of you guys have heard of Ellwood Epps out in Orillia, Ontario? They currently have about 10 Norc's in stock, eh. Google them and you'll find the website in no time.
My buddy got one about a year ago, and we honestly couldn't hit anything with it out of the box, because he had a really terrible trigger on it and the op rod wasn't polished where it needed to be and it created too much vibration when it cycled. All in all though, after he did a trigger job on it an polished everything that looked like it had been cut out with a hacksaw, mounted a scope on it, he can hit anything with it now at 100 yards. Even hits loonie sized targets at that range every shot! I'm blown away with the difference after the work he did. I really like the rifle, but opted for a M1 Garand instead just because I like the whole "PING" thing and the history behind it. They are very similar rifles though, I have to admit the M14 seems a bit more accurate, but hey nothing blows things up like that 30-06 Garand does.

i got the sling,2-5 round mags,1-20/5 round mag, cleaning rods and tip, grease pot and multi-tool.the gun had a REALLY tight trigger group but a nice smooth trigger pull.the gas tube was not drilled straight and the rear sights are o.k. up/down but not so hot left/right.i'm a little concerned about the headspace but will check it out before i shoot it...no bayonet lug.
cheap chu-mystery wood stock.
