I was at my local gun shop and on a whim purchased a
Remington 700SS 5R Milspec.

I also bought a Bushnell 6500 Elite Tactical 4.5-30X50 scope.
The scope has 50 MOA of adjustment. Do I need a 0 or 20 MOA base for it?
My local range only goes out to 200m I need to drive a couple of hours to get to a 600m range.

My question is concerning scope mounts and rings.
Should I just purchase rings that bolt directly on the rifle or should I get a picatinny rail and rings that mount to it?

What height rings are needed with a picatinny rail?

Besides a bipod what else is needed before I hit the range?
I've heard that a bore guide and a good cleaning rod is a must.
Anyone care to give some advise?

Thanks in advance.

If you get a picatinny rail you will have many more options for rings available to you. You will also be able to use lower rings. I would suggest you get a picatinny rail with a 20MOA tilt. That way you are all set to go for long range shooting and can still zero that scope at 100m.

Signature Zee rings for sure. Pretty unique design that will help out lots with your scope since it has limited elevation adjustment. The ring inserts that come with the scope allow you to adjust +/- 10 MOA without having to switch your rail.
