Dropped into OP FISHING and HUNTING on Wednesday and picked up an SKS in great shape on sale for $179 tax in. All matching numbers except the stock and the bottom of the mag. I asked the guys it they would mind letting me look at a few so I could choose, sure he said and went out back and came back with six and asked if that was enough or if I wanted to see more, I declined, I found an great one in that bunch. Bore is perfect, I can't find any marks, scratching, chips or dings on it. I've always got great service there, can't beat these guys. Oh it still has some of that coating on it, cosmoline ???they cleaned the bore and wiped them down enough so you can see what your buying. How's the best way to get the rest of that stuff off? What type of cleaner?
There's one thing wrong though,,,, it's not red!!! 😉😉
Forgot to mention it's a Russian sks, seems to make a differance to allot of guys, I know that Russia builds weapons that last, I guess that's why people prefer Russian over others.

Sounds like a good one,, what year is it? There are stickies at the top of this thread tells you how to clean it also YouTube is your friend, lots on there! Congrats!

So it is a 1954 Tula arsenal russian refurb a pic would be great
welcome to the red side ,,,,be careful they multiply
I'll post some pics another time, when I can take them in daylight. Pics at night with these phones leaves a little to be desired.
Multipling is what scares me, I get another Russian rifle and they mate, then I end up with pups, how do I explain that to the wife ;)

I had that problem too - up to 4.5 of the darn things and its time to thin the herd :). Then I met a Czech gal....

Sks's are very good guns for the price, it wasn't to long after I bought mine I added 2 mosin's then an svt 40.

Honestly now adays if I find them for $200 or les I buy them. Mods are cheap and you could set up a rifle and forget it, leave it on.

Where is this O P place,, I will probably be in St. John's next weekend for a bday party, might drop in?

Do you know where Donovans Industrial Park is? Well if you do its in there, when you turn off the main drag, drive up to the intersection with the Irving gas station right in front of you, turn right and it's 2 minuits if that up that road on your right. I'll see if I can get the address for you.

22 Sagona Ave, Mount Pearl, NL A1N 4R2

Awesome thanks, we will be in Mt. Pearl during the weekend! That was a great price, hope they have other good deals! Do they carry crates of 7.62x39 too?

Here she is in all her glory, I liked the stock on this one , but the fact that it was in great condition was the main selling point. Plus the price
The stock is a bit light because I did sand it down a bit, I'm going to refinish the wood the colour I want.
