just bought the Mark II FV w/heavy barrel - how to make it better?

a new stock is obvious...likely something laminate from Boyd's.

with the new stock, should I have it glass or pillar bedded?

what else can I do to it to make it better? plan to use it for the 50 yard BR shooting I asked about earlier. not competing with the big boys, just the sporter class on bipods.

I have 2 of the 93's in 22mag (actually one is the wife's). They both shot better with a wood stock torqued correctly (rimfirecentral has the specs somewhere, I haven't removed them in awhile) and they both like a different brand of ammo. Mine likes CCI and my wife's likes Hornady.

The savage stock bottom metal is very thin.

So why didn't you go with the laminate version? By the time you change the stock, you will end up spending more than the laminate version would have cost you.

If you have pillars it really doesn't matter how thick your bottom metal is as it is just squeezing down onto the pillar if you have installed the pillar properly.

It does matter if the gun is not pillar bedded.

I am using a Leupold Rifleman 3x9x33 and my wife is using a Swift 3x9x40

Just because it's a .22 doesn't mean you can't spend some money on glass.

I didn't buy the laminate because it was almost $200 higher in price. might come out to the same price when I get the Boyd's stock...but at least then I'll have the color of my choice and not that what comes from the factory that didn't really appeal to me.

for glass I want something with fixed high mag. looking at the Sun Optics 42x60 or maybe the Sightron SII 36x42. of course, I'm open to suggestions!
