Typical Gunnut...cant pass up a deal.
Mostly for deer, occasional Black bear......Model 700 mountain, 260 Rem & a model 7 laminate in 300 SAUM. I'm only gonna end up keeping one! I allready use a .44 carbine for close in work, and have a 700 LSS in 300 RUM for moose (also my "pimp" gun:D )....just nothing in between.

Thoughts?

Thought about that 260 myself. A very appropriate cartridge for that very lightweight gun. I had one in 30'06 and it was brutal for myself to shoot. Don't know about the short mag but I'd guess it's in the same boat.

I would sell the 300 RUM and keep the other two.

The 300 SAUM would be lots for moose, easier on the head/shoulder, and easier to carry around. The 260 will be perfect for deer.

What super Said, sell the Ultramag, keep the RSAUM and the 260. The 260 is a great whitetail calibre, I've had two, very accurate, low recoil, hits very hard. The 300 RSAUM will kill anything in North America using 30 grains less powder the RUM.

Keep the 260 for deer and if you like the ultramag, keep it for moose. If you prefer the 300saum,sell the ultramag. If you keep the saum, buy plenty of brass,as it might not be available for long.

keep the 260 and the 300SAUM....you can always make brass from WSM brass...but a couple hundred pieces should last a lifetime...afterall, it's not a varmint or target rifle:D ..any moose shot at a reasonable distance wouldn't know if he were hit by a bullet launched from a SAUM case or a RUM case......or, dare I say...the same bullet launched from a 30-06 case....;)

and you can make 260 brass from 7-08 or 308...the demise of the 260 has been reported for a few years now.....and I just bought a 350 Mag:rolleyes: :) maybe I better buy lots of brass.....hey wait..that's probably what they said in the late sixties:confused:

Keep them all!!:D

Anyway why don't you have a 338win and a 375H&H!!;) ;)

260 thumbs up. Good for deer, black bear and moose at a decent range and presentation (Scandinavians have been taking moose for years with a 6.5mm).

the 300SAUM is a great little cartridge...the one I had would do an easy 3100with a 165 out of a 22" tube...sort of a supercharged 30-06 in a short action.....if it's true that "the 30-06 is all we really need"....then the 300 SAUM should be all that and a bit more...
