So I splurged and bought an Aimpoint T-1 for myself for Xmas ( 25% off sale that Questar had) Was mounting it up on a DD mount when one of the screws made that horrible spin feeling,it is stripped. Any body else have this happen? I guess I'll have to hope Aimpoint will warranty ? :bangHead: Or am I'm f**ked?

I haven't had this happen, but it could be due to over torquing. 20 inch/pounds is standard for most ring screws but you need a torque driver to do it accurately.

Do no know about Aimpoint. But I did the same (strip because of over tork) on Leupold rings, it cost me $$ to get them rethreaded and new screws. Leupold did not cover.
BTW any gunsmith worth 2 cents can take care of this.

It'll still hold plenty tight with three of the four screws. I've broken two Micro crossbolts accidentally.. they are pretty soft if you're a ham-fisted goof like myself...

Contact Aimpoint USA. I did this, and the Aimpoint rep even said that he himself did this too. The base is aluminum, the screws steel, so go figure.
I sent it back to Aimpoint Sweden and they replaced the sight, no questions.
(it's easier and quicker to send to Sweden than US due to ITAR).

Thanks good to know

Post up some pics.

If it seems like it will be quick, send it to warranty. If it looks like it will be a pita then just drop in a helicoil and problem solved for life. No big deal tbh.

One expensive fuxup is all you need to justify the price of a quality torque driver ;). Of course this advice seems to come late, but at least if you get one you're sure not to repeat the mistake of over-torquing.

I'd just hellicoil it myself , it sucks when this happens but it'll suck even more waiting for it to come back from the warranty centre in six months time

Invest in an inch-pound torque driver... They're not really all that expensive.
Even if you only use it a couple of times it's worth it.

I think most people (myself included) have a tendancy to over tighten fasteners when doing so by hand.

I agree but there is no mention of what the crews should be torqued too. Torque driver is on top of the tool list now, but they only work if used an maintained properly.
