Nice hope you had some cover at 8 feet
Nice hope you had some cover at 8 feet
Nope SFdj, wide open ridge top, but I half expected what happened cause this ain't my first rodeo, he was certainly way more surprized than me............I have no qualms being in very close proximity to black bears as long as I have the rifle and element of surprize.
This bear has one of the thickest and plushest hides I've ever seen, he's gonna be a beautiful hide.
I briefly thought about throwing a headlock on him and getting a good tooth hold on an ear like I used to do with rank horses but then I remembered I wasn't 18 anymore. And besides I doubt I could jump that 8 ft any more and if I did manage to get a good head lock and tooth hold on his ear..............then what, I remembered they aren't all my teeth any more and not nearly as firmly rooted and he might be a little disconcerted when I tried to drag him back to the truck or release him. I also, just in time, remembered that horses don't have claws.......... I never used to think that far ahead but with age has come some thought of consequences and forward thinking. So I enacted plan B and what you see are the results.

He hesitated and looked very startled at seeing me so close,
c-fbmi, if you ever decide to enact plan A please ensure you post a link to the video. If not, great looking bear.
I think he'd have a better time with "plan a" than he would uploading a video to the Internet!
