Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on the model 700 6.5 Creedmore variations.

I've done a little research on the PCR, the Magpul Edition, the 5R milpec. etc. and the details seem to be similar.

I know the SPS rifles are the basic meat an potatoe 700's, and I was always of the mindset that the 5R-Milspec rifle was a higher grade rifle than the model 700's, but when you look at the details on the other 6.5 rifles, it leads me to believe that maybe they are the same action, just different stocks, barrel lengths, etc.

What are your thoughts??

Only looking for 6.5 Creedmore.

And I don’t have any issues with 700’s. Been shooting the 700 since I was a kid. I’ve had dozens of other rifles, brands, models, even $3-4K rifles over the last 15 years and I’ve always had a 700 or two in the safe. I’ve always come back to them and they’ve always just worked for me. And not just old ones.. I’ve bought 2 new ones in the last couples years that have been absolute gems.

I use my rifles and the ones I keep aren’t treated as nice as they should so having $3-5k rifles isn’t my thing. If I use a high end rifle, every nick and scratch pisses me off so I stay in the under $2500 range (including glass) when it comes to a useable rifle.

However, they’ve all been mid to higher end 700’s... you couldn’t give me an SPS.

They're all the "same" action but some I want to say some of them have stainless actions (the Mil-Spec I believe does with another surface coating). The 5R ones have a barrel with 5R rifling. So yeah, basically all the same action but different material quality/surface treatments, different barrels and different stocks.

I’ve kinda grown fond of the SPS Stainless receiver/bolts for my last 2 builds. Never have to worry about finish treatment, etc. Ha ha ha
They still shoot better than I can hold them....

Cheers, Barney

Have a several Remington 5R's, Gen1 & Gen2, they all shoot great. Swapped out trigger in 3 of them, tossed in the Timney Triggers, excellent upgrade.
Kept a couple with stock X-Pro Trigger as they were decent.
Not one is 6.5 CM, but I would recommend the M700 5R Gen2 all day long, watch they go on sale, good value..

Bought one of these from Wolverine Supply a while back "Remington 700 Barreled action 6.5 Creedmoor HB 24" Threaded ". Threw it into a used AI chassis, looked up some loads and hit this on the first go around.... Haven't done anything with it since.... I've always had good luck with the Remington 700's SPS Tactical, AAC Tactical, 5R and the SPS Varmint's out of the box or used.
