I was out shooting my M&P 9mm sometime ago and came across a round that was folded over at the top of the brass where the bullet meets. I was wondering if anyone has came across something similar and if the did anything about it (getting ahold of the manufacture, ect)

I've seen that in commercially reloaded ammo. Even managed to shoot some of them that I didn't notice while loading.

I've seen that in my own reloading (.40). The bullet catches the edge of the brass during the bullet seating and rips the side of the case. I've never shot one. When that happens (very rare) I pull the bullet and throw out the brass.
I've never seen one in commercial ammo.

I read an article, I think it was in guns and ammo, guy had about a half dozen various duds he'd found over the years in commercial ammo. It was an article talking about safety, so I'd just be happy that I found it before I shot it, and keep it some place safe (where it won't get accidentally put in a gun) to remind to always check ammo before I shoot it. Try and call the company if you want to, they might send you something, they might not, let us know either way

Yeah, i got use to rolling the round in my fingers before sliding it into the magazine, always have and thats how i caught it. I'm deffinitley trying to get ahold of Federal to see whatthey say about it though, maybe get some free stuff... who knows. I called yesterday and left a message but i'm going to call again today. I'll keep you all posted on what comes of it.

I probably shot at least a dozen rounds like that, given the number of empties I found. No issues at all.
